TIPS FOR SURVIVING FINALS WEEK
- Avoid the urge to procrastinate and begin early.
- Create a 'Finals Game Plan.' (Outline when and how you will review your subjects.)
- Take advantage of review sessions and materials provided by your teachers.
- Establish consistent and healthy sleep habits.
- Focus on a healthy diet and exercise to maximize energy when you need it.
- Find a space conducive to studying.
- Create a playlist that helps you focus.
- Turn off or silence distracting devices.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with a mix of study methods.
- Write out practice test question answers.
- Work with a study group.
- Create flash cards for vocabulary review and study your notes.
- Make studying fun.
- Take breaks! Schedule a five minute break for each hour you study. Set a timer so you don't break too long.
PAPILLION LA VISTA ACADEMIC LETTER
Academic Letter
Academic lettering at Papillion La Vista High School serves as an acknowledgement of high academic achievement for dedicated and hardworking students in grades 9 - 12.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an Academic Letter, a student must:
- achieve a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or above for the academic school year AND
- successfully complete (pass) a minimum of 5 graded, mark-point courses for each semester they are enrolled.
Awarding
First-time recipients will receive a letter. Repeat recipients will receive a chevron each time they achieve the award.
Current Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will be recognized this Fall 2024 semester - date to be determined.
ATTENTION SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!
The first half of the school year is almost over. We have had very few students turn in their scholarship award letters so far. If you have received a scholarship, please email Mrs. Bradley a photo of that award letter. This will help her prepare for Honors Night on May 6. We would like to know about all the scholarships you have been awarded!

Dell Scholars Program - To apply for this scholarship, you will need to demonstrate a financial need. University of Nebraska-Omaha Jim and Shirley Young Scholars -DEADLINE August 1
This scholarship is for first generation students who can demonstrate financial need. Must have an interest and track record of participating in volunteer/service activities, and participation in student organizations and extracurricular activities. CLICK HERE to apply.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Kiewit Scholars Program - DEADLINE November 15
Kiewit Scholars Program The College of Engineering and the Kiewit Corporation are partnering to offer the Kiewit Scholars Program, providing select students with leadership opportunities and career development experiences to become leading professionals in their future jobs and communities. Recipients of this scholarship will receive full tuition for four years, housing and meals one year, book stipend, education abroad funding, immersive learning trips and a guaranteed internship at Kiewit, one of North America's largest contractors.
UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN HONORS PROGRAM

The University Honors Program, Nebraska Business Honors Academy and Raikes School application is located in MyRED for admitted students. Because the Honors application process is highly competitive, encourage you need to craft your application materials carefully. The deadline to apply is November 15, 2024.
