We got wonderful news this week that we received the honor of being a Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase School for the second year in a row. Students and teachers have worked every day to implement CKH practices in their classrooms and to build great relationships this year. It has been great to celebrate students this year at out CKH assemblies and with positive office referrals. We can't wait to continue to showcase the outstanding things our kids do as we finish out this year and move into next year.

If you have not done so yet - Please take a few minutes to fill out our END OF YEAR CKH FAMILY SURVEY. We had 82 responses on our mid-year survey. My goal is that we would have 100 responses on our end of year survey. Thank you in advance for taking for helping us reach this goal, and for sharing your valued feedback!

I wanted to share an amazing update with you all. As you know, our fundraising goal this year was to get put up shade structures in the pick up line. I am excited to share that those structures will be going up at the start of this summer!! Thank you to everyone that contributed to our fundraising efforts this year! We cannot tell you enough how much we appreciate your support and are looking forward to that shade in the August/September car line!

Next week will be a busy week.

• We will take our FINAL STAAR test on Tuesday. 5th grade will be taking their Math test. We will have a closed campus to visitors.
• Tuesday evening PTO will have their final meeting for the year at 6:00. They will be voting in the new board. Information went out last week about PTO - we hope to see you all at Tuesday evening!
• Wednesday is PTOs day of Awesomeness! They need volunteers - if you can help, see information below on how to get signed up to help!
• Thursday 5th graders that will attend FSMS will head over to take a tour
• Field Day is Friday! Teachers sent information to you all about field day. If you ordered a field day shirt, those will be coming home Monday or Tuesday. If you have multiple children, only one child will receive the shirt for all of your children! We can't wait to see you all for the MOST FUN DAY!

This special day is all about recognizing the dedication and hard work of our amazing school nutrition professionals who serve healthy, delicious, and nutritious meals to our students every day.

No Food Delivery from Food Delivery Businesses

Students can only have food/drinks delivered during their lunch time. No deliveries will be accepted from Doordash, Grubhub, Pizza Delivery, or any other form of food delivery.

Each LINK will direct you to the appropriate forms required to be completed by your student's doctor if your child has one of the following conditions:

• Asthma

• Anaphylactic Reaction/Epipen

• Food Allergy and/or requires a Special Meal Request

• Seizure Disorder

• Diabetes

• Requires administration of Prescription Medication during the school day

• AND/OR If you would like for your student to have an over-the-counter medication kept in the clinic, the parent/guardian must complete the appropriate form and provide over-the-counter medication to the nurse.

We would LOVE to have you volunteer on our campus this year! If you would like to help around campus, you are required to complete a background check. Click the link below and take care of that form now. It can take a couple of week to get it back, so get it done now to avoid any delays in you participating when you are ready.

Enrolling in Pre-K? Attend Parent Information Night

MISD will host an informative parent night on April 29 for families preparing to enroll their eligible four-year old in Pre-K for the fall 2025-26 school year. Families will learn what students learn in Pre-Kindergarten, how to prepare their child for success, enrollment procedures and what state eligibility requirements are in place for enrollment.

Attending families will be able to enroll onsite that night during the Parent Information Night. To take advantage of this assistance, families will need to bring with them all the required documents. Visit the MISD website to learn more.

MISD is forming a Facility Planning Committee to assess and prioritize facility needs as our district grows — and we want YOU to be a part of it. We’re looking for a diverse group of 80 individuals: parents, alumni, staff, business and civic leaders, and more. If you live within MISD boundaries, fill out our interest form today to help shape the future of Midlothian ISD!

The committee will meet six times between May and July, plus take part in a guided tour of the district.

MISD does not allow students to have cell phones in the classrooms during instruction. At Irvin students are required to keep their cell phones in their backpack turned off or on silent. If you need to contact your child, you will need to call the front office and they will get you in contact with your child.

HB 3 required parent notice on practicing safe firearm storage

All Texas school districts are required by law to distribute information to parents and guardians about the safe storage of firearms. House Bill 3, Section 19 added Section 37.222 to the Texas Education Code, which requires the Texas School Safety Center, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety, to provide information and resources to school districts for the purpose of disseminating the information to parents. The Texas DPS launched a Keep ‘Em Safe Texas website that provides safety resources, materials, and tips for practicing safe gun storage to prevent accidents and keep children safe. Remember, a gun should be stored unloaded in a safe or locked container, with ammunition stored elsewhere.
