Happy February!

This time of year is a reminder of growing up and receiving valentines from friends and family , expressing others' care and appreciation. I hope you are able to take a moment with your family to remind one another that they are loved.

Speaking of appreciation, Feb. 27 is Farm Day and there is a link in the newsletter (see the Community Events section) in case you want to check it out. There are some interesting videos sharing ways that technology is changing farming, and I have enjoyed and appreciated our farming community here in the valley, who provide food for much of our country and other countries.

My family invested in a large timber property in Southern Oregon a decade ago, and after working with others to harvest, transport and process the timber at local sawmills, I have an appreciation for the work many of our families do in farming. We continue to enjoy spending time on the property every year or so, I love the sights, smell and sounds of the timber forest!

FREE Virtual California Farm Day

Join us for Virtual CA Farm Day, where classrooms explore what it means to work in the wide and wonderful world of agriculture through a mix of pre-recorded segments and live interactive hosts.

Agriculture is more than tending crops and milking cows. Agriculture thrives on a diverse network of scientists, growers, mechanics, marketers, educators…and many more who all play a role in getting California’s 400 commodities from farm, field, or forest to you.

The newest edition of "What's Growin' On?" student newspaper, with the theme “Imagine your Future in Agriculture,” will guide our Farm Day adventures. Each registrant receives a FREE classroom set.
