WEEKLY PREVIEW
January 4, 2025
Happy New Year, Longwood Families!
We are eagerly anticipating the return of our Lions on Monday, January 6th! We are hopeful this break has provided an opportunity for time with loved ones.
π«Ά Thank You!
Thank you to Mr. Munoz and his team for all of their hard work over break refreshing carpets and preparing the building for our return! Thank you to all of our families and staff who provided donations and/or volunteered for the district's Gift Mart program!
Successful Return
- π Reestablish Routines: Encourage your child to gradually transition back into their school wake up and bedtime routine this weekend. Getting plenty of sleep is essential!
- π Check Backpacks & Chromebooks: Take a moment to check your child's backpack and supplies. We have many brand new backpacks and supply donations available to provide our students. If you're in need of any items, please call the office 630-428-6789. Be sure to charge those Chromebooks, too!
- π Celebrate Achievements: The return from break can occasionally foster feelings of nervousness or anxiety in students. Consider highlighting your child's successes and accomplishments during the first semester and celebrate their hard work! Please call or message your child's teacher if your child is in need of additional support with their return to school.

π§£π§€ Winter Health Tips ββ
Hey there, students and families! βοΈ
As we head into the colder months, it's important to stay healthy so everyone can be here to learn and grow. Here are some simple tips to help keep you feeling great all winter long:
Wash those hands! π§Ό β Frequent hand washing helps prevent the spread of germs. Remember to wash for at least 20 seconds! Winter break is a great time to wash their winter gear and backpacks too!
Bundle up in layers! π§£π§€ β Stay warm by dressing in layers. It helps you stay cozy when going outside and adjust when you're indoors.
Eat healthy foods! π₯π β Fuel your body with lots of fruits, veggies, and whole grains. These foods help boost your immune system.
Stay active! πββοΈπ β Keep moving even when itβs chilly outside. Indoor activities like dancing or playing a game can help!
Drink water! π§ β Even in winter, it's important to stay hydrated. Aim for 8 cups a day!
Get enough sleep! π β A good nightβs sleep is key to feeling your best and staying healthy. Aim for 8-10 hours each night.
By taking care of yourself, you'll help keep germs away and stay strong and ready to learn! Stay healthy, and let's make this winter a great one. π
Be Well,
Rachel Leathers, BSN, RN, PEL-CSN
