INVEST: For those who didn't get your t-shirts and stickers at open house, we will have them available for students to pick-up during lunch on Friday, September 9. So please give today, and we will have your merch ready for pick up next Friday!
Thanks to your generous support we have raised $47,103 toward our $60,000 INVEST goal! We need YOUR help to reach this year's goal!
The INVEST campaign provides funding to enhance resources for students and equips our teachers with tools to be more effective in the classroom. Your tax-deductible donation to the MLK INVEST campaign will help create a strong foundation for future success. We all have varying financial circumstances, however, if we all give as we are able – some more, some less - we can meet this goal together. Every donation, regardless of the amount, matters and makes a difference. Can we count on your support?
Please consider maximizing your ability to give by pledging an amount that will be divided in 5 payments. As an added incentive, all donors will receive an MLK sticker or magnet, and $200+ donors will receive an MLK WHITE OUT T-SHIRT while supplies last.
AND as an added incentive two lucky INVEST Donors will receive a $25 gift card to the MLK Spirit Store each week until Fall Break!
If you haven’t made your INVEST donation or pledge yet, please do so today at https://investmlk.evrits.com.

Are you someone who is driven to succeed both academically and in community service? Are you a person of strong character? Do you have the potential to be a leader?
If so, we would like to invite you to apply to join the MLK Beta Club and join us for the interest meeting on Thursday, September 8th in the Cafeteria at 3:10PM.
What We Are: MLK Beta Club is an Honor Society that serves our school and the broader community. Every year, we complete hundreds of volunteer hours and raise thousands of dollars for local charities - and put on a lot of fun school events along the way. Our past efforts have included the Pennies for Patients Fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma, MLK Holiday Karaoke, and the MLK Flag Football game.
National Beta Club: Beta Club is a national organization with over 700,000 members. Prominent alumni include President Bill Clinton, Diane Sawyer, Trisha
Yearwood, Kevin Durant, and Justin Timberlake.
Why You Should Join: You will grow as a leader, meet cool people, gain relevant real-world experience managing projects, and have a ton of fun at our events as you serve your community.
Benefits of Membership: All Beta Club members who maintain their membership receive special Honor Cords to wear at graduation and have access to thousands of dollars in special scholarships. Past MLK magnet Beta Club members who completed independent service projects have won awards and talked about their service on panels at Vanderbilt University.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), and is now active across the United States.
When you call, text, or chat 988, you will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting you, provide support, and connect you to resources if necessary.
The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
The Lifeline’s network of over 200 crisis centers has been in operation since 2005, and has been proven to be effective. It’s the counselors at these local crisis centers who answer the contacts the Lifeline receives every day. Numerous studies have shown that callers feel less suicidal, less depressed, less overwhelmed and more hopeful after speaking with a Lifeline counselor.
Answer the call! These centers are looking to bring on new volunteers and paid employees. You will receive training, so if you are a caring person who wants to help those in crisis, apply today. Find your opportunity: samhsa.gov/988-jobs
