We are excited to get ready to welcome students back to school on August 19. We are working hard to make sure that the school is clean, safe, and ready for students to return. Please carefully read all of the information in this newsletter. All of your questions regarding back to school will hopefully be answered either in this newsletter or in the student handbook linked below. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We hope that you continue to enjoy your summer, and we will see everyone soon.

Student Schedules will be available through Infinite Campus on Wednesday, August 14. You are also encouraged to update your profile on the Infinite Campus Portal.

Incoming and New Students-If you do not have an Infinite Campus account, please email IC-Parenthelp@parkwayschools.net to obtain your activation key for your family to get started.

On Thursday, August 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m we hope you will join us at Southwest for our annual back-to-school block party. We are excited to continue this fun tradition. Free hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be served. Bring the whole family to see friends, play some games, and hang out on the blacktop. Bring a camp chair if you would like a place to sit. Otherwise, just bring yourself for a fun night.

SWM Gymnasium

The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition from elementary school to middle school a positive one. Eighth graders will be serving as leaders and mentors to the sixth graders. Group activities are designed to address students’ needs and concerns in an enjoyable manner. Bus transportation is provided for this event. Students will be picked up at their assigned bus stop at their normal morning pickup time. Students will leave Southwest Middle at 11:00 pm and be returned to their bus stop. Students should receive an email from the district closer to the start of school regarding bus stops and times. Students not riding the bus should arrive at Southwest by 8:15 am and be picked up at 11:00 pm.

On Thursday, August 15 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m we will have the opportunity for students and parents to come up to the school to find their lockers, drop off supplies, and walk their schedule. This will be an open house style event. Teachers will be available in their rooms to meet parents and provide some basic information about their classes. There will also be some sessions that students and parents can attend for more detailed information. In the main commons, we will have opportunities to sign up for PTO volunteering, and get information about food services, and other groups.

Hello 6th Grade Parents and Families!

Continuing Parkway tradition, all sixth grade students have the awesome opportunity to attend Outdoor School this year. More information will be available as we begin school, but for now… please mark your calendar with the dates below!

The supply list is intended to provide necessary supplies for the majority of the school year. Some supplies will be collected by teams. Other supplies can be stored in the student's lockers for use when needed.

If any student does not have the ability to get the necessary supplies due to circumstances or need, please contact their counselor.

All students at Southwest Middle have been assigned a Chromebook to use during the day and take home at night. Students should bring the Chromebook that they took home during the summer on the first day of school. New students will be assigned a Chromebook.
