Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Breanne Palmerini

The Staff Spotlight for this week is Mrs. Palmerini, who teaches 7th, 9th, and 10th grade English at Dryden High School. She enjoys reading, horseback riding, and spending time with her husband and also likes to travel to visit friends and family. Mrs. Palmerini also has a small farm - she has four horses, nine chickens, six cats, one dog, and four beehives. She likes to ride horses competitively and off-the-track Thoroughbreds.
Mrs. Palmerini’s favorite thing about Dryden is the community, and she also likes getting to know people. She has lived in seven different states and has family all over the country. Mrs. Palmerini graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and is set to graduate this May from Harvard Extension School with her master’s degree in creative writing and literature. “Fortune favors the bold” is one of Mrs. Palmerini’s favorite Proverbs.

- Lillian Martin loves her happiness. Lillian's favorite memory with Mrs. Palmerini is “when I was in her classroom talking about Mrs. Palmerini’s farm animals after school.”
Atticus Podvin's favorite thing about Mrs. Palmerini is that she doesn’t yell.
Giovonin Giganti's favorite thing about her is how she loves her students. The most important thing Mrs. Palamerini has taught his brother is to be positive.
Lillian Stein's favorite thing about Mrs. Palmerini is that “she's fun and exciting! She always wakes me up in the morning with her cheerfulness, and she's always kind and sweet. She thinks about us and how we feel on a regular basis. and she cares whether we get a good education in her class!” says Lillian. Lillian has learned to be happy and cheerful.
Xavier Kemyszek's favorite thing about Mrs. Palmerini is that “Her class is easy to understand.” says Xavier. His favorite memory is reading The Outsiders in her class. The most important thing that he has learned is how to write a little bit faster.
Cora Baker’s favorite thing about Mrs. Palmerini is that she is always happy and has a positive attitude. The most valuable thing she has learned is to always have a positive attitude.
Molly Miller loves how joyful Mrs. Palmerini is, how she is always super happy every day, and how Mrs. Palmerini likes to take an interest in her students. Molly’s favorite memory with her is “ 1st hour, I like how she talks. It’s calming” says Molly. Molly has learned from Mrs. Palamerini to always be positive.
Maddie Gammon loves her positive attitude and fun personality. The most important thing Maddie has learned from Mrs. Palmerini is to be happy.
EMS Course Begins
Congratulations to #proudcardinal senior Jade Insley, one of 15 students selected countywide to participate in an EMS class this year! Lapeer EdTech and Lapeer EMS have partnered to offer the class to students who want to earn their EMT certification. Way to go, Jade!

Junior Varsity Volleyball

On September 12, the Dryden JV Cardinals played Mayville and played hard but lost 14-25,18-25, 8-15. Abby Tonkoshkur served 6 points and 2 aces, 1 dig, and 3 kills. Brianna Snavely served 11 points and 1 ace, 4 digs, 5 kills, and 1 assist. Karley Phillips served 4 points and 1 ace, 2 digs. 3 kills, and 4 assists. Claire Wright served 1 point and 1 ace, 1 dig, and 1 assist. Great job, girls!
Varsity Volleyball

On September 12, Dryden won against Mayville with scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-14. Izzy Weier led with 22 points served and 1 ace, Maddie Gammon had 15 points served and 3 aces, and Keira Miller added 12 points served and 1 ace. Mikayla Fleming contributed 8 points served, and Jalynn Delmotte and Kierstyn Stankevich each served 7 points with 1 ace. Mikayla Fleming led in kills with 8, followed by Mallory Barker with 6. Mikayla Fleming and Mallory Barker recorded the most blocks, and Izzy Weier had 12 assists.
Varsity Football

On Thursday, September 12th, 2024, the Dryden Varsity Football team played Mayville. Final Score was 28 points for Dryden and 22 points for Mayville.
On offense, Gianni Coscione had 14 rushes for 94 yards, 2TD. 26 yard TD, 6-yard TD. 4 for 6 passing for 1 TD (38yd) 2 int, 2 point Rush; Sonny Coscione had 9 rushes for 66 yards, 1 reception for 17 yards; Brady Schneider, 9 rushes for 84 yards, 1 reception for 23 yards, 70-yard kick return TD, 2-point conversion catch, 180 total all-purpose yards; Santiago Perales 1 carry for 1 yard, 2 receptions for 70 yards and a TD (38 yards).
On defense, Gianni Coscione had 1 tackle, 4 assists, 1 int; Sonny Coscione, 3 solo 5 assists; Brady Schneider, 2 solo and 5 assists; Santiago Perales, 3 solo and 3 assists; David Insley, 4 solo and 5 assists; Owen Gall, 4 solo and 5 assists, 2-point conversion pass completion; Preston Kuligowski, 2 solo and 1 assist; Jacob Buffo, 1 solo and 3 assists; Drew Raymond, 1 solo and 2 assists.
The Head Coach, Hunter Gall commented, “I'm very proud of the way we played this week. This win shows a lot of growth within our program. We still have some work to do, but I think this was a great step in the right direction.”
Varsity Cross Country

Dryden had an amazing race at Holly on Saturday. The boys team placed 3rd, earning them a trophy, and had 5 medalists! The team was led by Levi Fitchett, who placed 11th (17:59.8), followed by Logan Romain in 15th (18:15.7), in 23rd was Nick Abromaitis (19:23.0), Noah Hall placed 32nd (19:38.1), Sean Finnigan was in 34th (19:48.0), Dylan Lasher placed 45th (21:15.6), and Brenden Peter took 51st (22:20.3). In the JV race, Matthew Livingston placed 62nd (22:46.2), and Tyler Roberts took 83nd (25:53.8).
The girls team placed 5th overall in the Division V race. Leading the team was Cara Prusakiewicz who placed 9th earning her a medal and a new school record (20:54.6). Also earning a medal was Claire Wright in 26th place (22:48.6), followed by Caila Fitchett in 45th (24:46.2), in 56th Lily Lasher (27:03.8), Ivy Brown was 57th (27:05.1), and Penelope Spencer 62nd (28:39.5).
Overall, it was a fantastic showing from both the boys and girls teams. Their hard work and determination on such a challenging course were truly impressive! Each runner gave their best effort, and it showed in the results.
Junior High Cross Country

On Saturday, September 14th, 2024, the Dryden Junior High Cross Country team ran at the 56th Holly-Duane Raffin Festival of Races.
On the boys' side, Josiah Matson got 76th place, 14:03.9; Sullivan Brown got 165th place, 18:10.2; Jeffery Taylor got 168th place, 18:50.0; Jaxon Buffo got 170th place, 19:24.4.
On the girls’ side, Eliniah Fitchett got 110th place with a time of 17:06.0.
