L2U Plans for 2016-2017
A big part of our hope for our students is that they learn to advocate for themselves. Throughout the year, and especially in Tiger's Eye, we support our students in finding their voice and to "stand up" for themselves and others. Once our students leave Tamanend and go on to CB South High School, building student advocacy is continued and broadened through a program called "First LINK." As a part of LINK's service outreach, those South students work with our Tamanend students to foster community building and servant leadership. We call this "Link to Unity" (or L2U for short). This year, we have three L2U sessions. November 12 is for 8th Graders. January 14 is for 7th Graders. On March 18 we will combine with Unami's 9th graders since they will all be united at South next year.
To be invited to L2U, students can self-nominate or parents, guardians, teachers can nominate a student. To nominate a student, please fill out a quick nomination form. Thank you.
This year, because we have so many students in 8th & 9th grades who have already participated in L2U last year and would like to be involved again, we created a L2U Jr Leader program. Interested Jr Leaders should apply here and will need to attend a Jr Leader Boot Camp at CB South on October 13 at 7 p.m..

Tamanend Parent Council
Parent Council is an open meeting where all parents are welcome to attend to learn more about Tamanend Middle School. Parent Council typically meets on the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. There is no obligation to attend all Parent Councils and there are no elected positions. Parent Council is a forum for parents and school leaders to learn from and with each other, together.
At this month's Parent Council, we will give an overview of Tamanend and talk about topics of parent interest for Parent Council meetings throughout the year.
