The grass has been cut, the track marked out and the sunshine has been ordered. We're looking forward to seeing you all at The 2023 Bardwell Games. Please sign in at the front door, before making your way to the back field for a 1.15pm start. We're happy for you to bring picnic chairs to make the event as comfortable as possible and don't forget your small change as our fantastic PTA will be selling cold drinks and icecreams for spectators. If possible, the children should be wearing their house colour (check on Arbor) but please do not rush out and buy new clothing for the event. Sun cream should be applied before school and hats and water bottles are a must. Please check Class Dojo regarding any changes to your child's timetable next week because of Sports Day. May the best team win!

It's back! Lots of parents have asked and we always aim to please so the Great Bardwell School Carnival will happen again this year on the 20th July, which gives you lots of time to get creative! This year's theme, inline with our love of wildlife will be 'British Animals'.

As always, we'd rather a home made, sustainable costume that the children have been involved in making. We will be making masks in school as part of our design and technology lessons.

Look out for upcoming information as the PTA will need lots of helpers to make the day a success.

Year 1 pupils will be taking part in the Phonics Screening check next week. The children are all very confident in their phonics and reading abilities and we will not be presenting this check as a test. The checking materials will be used as part of our lessons and children will not be made aware of their grading. We will inform families as part of your child's report at the end of the year. Year 4 pupils will take part in the Multiplication Tables Check next week. The children are very used to the format and the test will be part of their normal maths routine. Results will be shared via the end of year report. Please see the link below for further information or talk to Mrs Box.

Your class and whole school photos are ready, please use the code your child brought home to access and order any photo products.

The Y6 leavers photo will be submitted to the East Anglian Daily Times and published on 14th July.

This week was Volunteers Week - a HUGE thank you from all of our staff and pupils to our brilliant volunteers that have been into school this year: Mrs Williams, Mrs Gooderham, Mrs Hutchinson, Miss Wainwright, Mrs Cook, Mrs Finn, Miss Proctor, Mr and Mrs Parker and to all those involved in making PTA events happen. What a lucky school we are!

Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances our Leavers' Collective Worship in Church will now take place on Wednesday 12th July at 1.30pm (not Thursday as previously stated).

This end-of-term service is open to ALL families with children at the school and we'd love to see you there.

A big thank you goes out to Wild Cherry Class for their cake sale on the last Friday of term- we raised £56 at this event. The final class for cake sale will be Damson Class on Friday 14th July. Please note this is not the last day of term.

As the weather is now improving we will be selling ice creams and ice lollies on Friday afternoons after school. Anyone willing to help sell them please contact a member of the PTA.

Thanks to the wonderful sunshine, a bumper crowd turned out for this years Cars on The Green. We managed to sell £298 tickets beforehand (well done Bardwell School!) and with a cut of sales of the day this was pushed up to £422. We also raised £75 from our stall on the day. Thank you to all those members of the PTA who manned the stall, without your help this wouldn’t have been possible.

Our next big event for this year is Bardwell Village Fete on Saturday 24th June 12-4 pm. We will update you on this event in the next newsletter.

Your child will no longer receive Universal Infant Free School Meals when they move to Year 3 unless you apply now for income-related Free School Meals and are eligible. You will save over £435 a year and your child’s school will receive extra funding to support your child with their learning. If you have already applied and have been found to be eligible, you do not need to reapply.

The DfE have updated their guidance on admissions for summer born children.

This guidance sets out information about requests to delay the admission of summer born children to the Reception Year. It also includes guidance on summer born children transferring from primary to secondary school.

The guidance for local authorities and own admission authority schools is now found in a separate link to the guidance for parents.

Please contact the Admissions Team for any further advice.

NB: The guidance applies if your child is taught in a different year group to their chronological age, i.e. if your child will be in Y5 in September but would be in Y6 according to their birthdate, you will need to apply for a secondary school place in the normal admissions round.

The oven at Ixworth Primary is still out of action, so our lunches continue to be prepared by Stanton Primary, we are on their version of the Vertas EATS menu, which can be found here.

Please ensure your child is aware of what's on the menu each day. We will return to our usual menu when the Ixworth kitchen is fully functional again.

Mental health is as important to a child's safety and wellbeing as their physical health. It can impact on all aspects of their life, including their educational attainment, relationships and physical wellbeing. Mental health can also change over time, to varying degrees of seriousness, and for different reasons.

• Neuroscience In The Early Years (Goes through Brain development of the children age 0-7 years old)

The qualifications are completed within a 10 - week period in your own leisure. They are equivalent to a GCSE Grade C, so you are required to write comprehensive answers for some questions, so they aren't multiple choice courses. You can do as many as you like, however you can just do one at a time.

We are writing to you today to introduce ourselves. We are Suffolk Parent Carer Forum - SPCF, the recognised parent carer forum for Suffolk. You can find out more about us on our website: www.suffolkpcf.co.uk but we wanted to give you a brief explanation about who we are and what we do for the families of children or young people with special, additional need and/or disabilities including mental health (SEND &/or MH).

We are a Suffolk based charity made up of parent carers with lived experience who have come together so that we can help shape the provisions and services our children and young people access. We do this through participation, consultation and co-production alongside Suffolk County Council, Suffolk & North East Essex Integrated Care Board, Norfolk & Waveney Integrated Care Board and the Department for Education.

Our aims are:

• To be the strategic consultative body within Suffolk and represent the voices of families with children and young people with SEND &/or MH.
• Providing a liaison point for Statutory and Voluntary Agencies within Suffolk, by using Experts by Experience to work in co-production with local services.
• To consult with and inform our membership with a view to ensuring that all children and young people in Suffolk with SEND &/or MH meet their full potential and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Attached you will find our leaflets so that you are able to share virtually with any families that you feel may benefit and if you would like any paper copies, just let us know and we can send some via post.

Those pupils attending the Farm & County Fair at Suffolk Showground recently have kindly been given a voucher by the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary (SOS) at Stonham Aspal, they were exhibiting at the Show.

SOS will offer a free virtual learning session for the pupils if lots of our vouchers are used. So, we'd like to encourage you to make use of the voucher if you can.

There is lots to see and do at the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, including meerkats! The venue is part of the Stonham Barns complex which also has lots of shops, mini golf and a cafe so it makes for a great day out.

We are a local bowling club in Stanton who will be providing junior sessions on Sundays throughout the summer months. We have level one coaching and all helpers have been DBS checked. We are trying to offer a sport for all which is low cost and local to the area. We currently have a small number of members who are under the age of 12 which we are looking to grow.

If your child is absent from school please ring into the school office giving the reason for the absence ('unwell' is not sufficient), please do not email for absence. If you need to, leave a voicemail.

The School must be notified by the parent/carer of the absent pupil on the first day of absence AND on every day of absence thereafter, before the register is closed. If a telephone call is not received, the school will contact parents/carers directly.

If you suspect or know that your child has COVID, the NHS guidance for children now states:

"If a child or young person aged 18 or under tests positive for COVID-19, they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days. This starts from the day after they did the test.

Children and young people tend to be infectious to others for less time than adults. If they’re well and do not have a temperature after 3 days, there’s a much lower risk that they’ll pass on COVID-19 to others."

We are an allergy aware school and would like to remind all families that there may be pupils in school with a peanut allergy. If a child with a peanut allergy comes into contact with peanuts, or with a pupil who has eaten peanuts, then this could lead to an anaphylactic reaction. Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction to a trigger such as an allergy.

Because of this the school cannot accept products containing peanuts to be provided in lunch boxes or for eating at other times.

Suffolk County Council has asked us to share with families their updated 'Cost Of Living Support' information.

Although we are a very small charity we can provide a limited amount of aid for those in need. If you qualify, we may be able to help with living or educational costs where aid is not already available from a statutory organisation. To find out more, please visit our webpage at:
