Parsons Pirates Update
May 6th, 2024
Message from the Principal
Thank you for all the kind words on Principal's Day. I didn't even realize it was Principal's Day and was surprised by all the sweet cards and Ms. Brandy's confetti cannon! I feel extremely lucky to have landed at Parsons. This is such a sweet community filled with lots of love, happiness, and high expectations for learning!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to Deb Meeks and the PTO for organizing a wonderful week to spoil our teachers. They are super stars and deserve to know how much we appreciate them!
Teacher Appreciation Week is Here!
Classroom Environment Survey for Next Year Class Placements
It's that time of year! Please read this letter regarding classroom placements for this year. After reading the letter, please fill out this form. The form will close May 10th. We appreciate your input!
Mission and Vision Parent Input Form
Update: We have had 30 parents complete the form. These are the top words parents said they wanted their child to be. Feel free to fill out the form if you would still like to contribute. It will be open for one more week.
Please consider completing the following form to help us articulate our mission, vision, goals, and values. School success is a team effort and we believe strongly in including all voices-students, staff, and parents/caregivers-to achieve this goal.
MSTEP
Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade have MSTEP this week! A big thank you to parents who donated snacks for their child's grade level. Please make sure your child has a good night's sleep, eats breakfast, and is on time for school.

Run Club is Back!
Run Club students walk every Wednesday morning before school. Each Run Club morning is weather dependent, of course. If it is raining, or the weather is unsafe for runners to participate, that day's Run Club will be cancelled. Proper cold weather attire is recommended on days it is chilly. The course is the track located behind our school. Start time is 8:00 AM sharp. We will be on the track until the school doors open. Students will track their mileage each day they participate.
Bike to School
Wednesday, May 29th, 2024
Instead of taking the bus or getting a ride to school, take your bike and join your friends
for a ride your bike to school day.
Students are encouraged to ride their bike from home to school with parent’s approval.
If you are too far to ride or you want to ride your bike to school with a group, please see
attached map for our three group bike trains. Bike trains will be supervised and
major intersections will be blocked by the Gibraltar Fire and Police Departments.
All students participating in the bike train should meet at the meeting location at 7:55 am.
Parents may drop students off or ride along.
ALL KINDERGARTEN AND 1ST GRADE STUDENTS NEED TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
Bike trains will leave location promptly at 8:05 AM and proceed to Parsons Elementary.
Afternoon bike train will leave Parsons at 3:40 PM and head back to meeting location for parent pick up. Bike trains will have volunteer leaders and followers. Anyone picking up their child from the meeting spot please be there by 4pm or earlier.
Check out the PDF below for more info and maps of the bike train routes.

School Safety
All doors are locked during the school day. If you come to school, you will be buzzed into the foyer area and office and then asked to show identification before your child is released. All visitors/volunteers in the building must report and sign in at the office. Visitors must wear a badge in the school building. All volunteers in the classroom and for field trips must have a background check on file each year. Just a reminder that if you have a felony conviction you may not volunteer in the classroom or on field trips.

Teacher of the Month
Jamie Churches', State Representative HD 27, office has a new ‘Teacher of the Month’ nomination form available on their website. As always, they wish to highlight the phenomenal educators of our district and showcase their incredible efforts in the classroom, with our students, and within the school community. I have attached the link to this email for your convenience. As they receive nominations, her team will reach out accordingly to schedule a day/time to present the award to a teacher per school month. Last year, Brittany Gurney received this award. We have so many awesome educators!
