Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Germano
Mrs. Germano is a crucial member of the MKG family. She is always there at all of the events of the school cheering on students and staff. Mrs. Germano is such a dependable coworker! Whenever you go to her with a problem, she will help solve it. Her students love her and always look forward to visiting her long after their time in her classroom is done. She is a crucial part of our teachers union and never stops fighting for what she believes in. Mrs. Germano is a passionate educator that MKG is lucky to have!
Nursing
Healthy Reminders for Illness and School Attendance, from Middleboro Public School Nursing:
As much of the area is experiencing an increase in seasonal illness, Middleborough Public Schools in partnership with our State and Local Public Health Departments would like to share the following healthy reminders: Please:
Practice frequent hand hygiene with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, or if a tissue is not available, cover sneezes with an elbow
Open a window, even a few inches to help circulate fresh air when this is an option.
Clean high touch surfaces in your home frequently .
Please keep your child home from school if he/she has:
A temperature of 100.1 F or higher during the previous 24 hours: Students are to be fever free without use of medication for 24 hours before returning to school
Vomiting or diarrhea. Students are to have no vomiting and no diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
Signs or symptoms of flu/Influenza include body aches, chills, headache, fatigue
If your student is ill, please keep your student home from school and please avoid social gatherings. This will help with recovery and reduce the chances of spreading illness to others.
Please contact your pediatrician or healthcare provider if your child needs medical care.
Please notify your School Nurse if your child tests positive for Covid-19 or Influenza. This will help us assess and possibly detect illnesses in others sooner
Please notify your school with any changes in any of your emergency contact phone numbers and/or emails so that we may reach you promptly if your student is ill and needs to be dismissed from school to recover at home. We share your commitment to reducing any chances that children with contagious illness may be exposing others to illness at school.
Thank you.

Grade 1
It has been a fabulous last week in first grade! Our first graders really showed their MKG spirit this week by dressing up as their favorite superheroes! Dressing in tropical attire for “Get Away Day” has us ready for summer!
Ms. Amanda from the Middleboro Public Library came to talk to us about their amazing summer reading program called Find Your Voice! The program runs from June 15th - August 15th. All who register on the library’s website receive a free book to get started! There are weekly ice cream giveaways and the chance to win 5 grand prizes! ($50 Amazon Gift Card, Amazon Fire 7 Tablet, Eco Wireless EarBuds and a Cork Speaker, Endangered Animals Prize Pack, and a Surprise Prize Pack) What a great incentive to keep our reading going over the summer!
On Tuesday we had our first grade field trip to the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford MA. Students were able to see animals like the Asian elephants, sleepy red pandas, two extremely playful bears, and a very lazy sloth that was hiding in the rafters of the rainforest exhibit! They loved riding the carousel and playing on the playground! Our students were amazing representatives of MKG! Thank you to all of our chaperones who came!! It was a great field trip!
Our first grade teachers and students want to wish Mrs. Donegan a very Happy Retirement! Thank you for being an amazing teacher for so many students! We will miss you! MKG will not be the same without you!
It is hard to believe that your child’s first grade year is coming to an end! What a GREAT year! We have developed the skills needed for second grade and have made many new friends along the way too! It has been a pleasure working with your child. We look forward to seeing your children in the halls of MKG as they move through the elementary grades. Thank you so much for your support in making this a truly special year! Have a wonderful summer!
Grade 2
On Tuesday we had an amazing field day! We had fun playing with chalk, bubbles, corn hole and the parachute. The kids love dancing, playing on the playground and of course cooling off at the water relay station. Thank you to all our volunteers for helping make the day so much FUN!
Mrs. Sorrento’s class and Mrs. Hilton’s class had a wonderful time checking out the Middleboro Public Library on Wednesday. Hopefully we have lots of students utilizing the library this summer and participating in the Summer Reading Program.
We hope all students have a wonderful summer!
Grade 3
We have had an amazing year in third grade! We have learned so much together this year. The students were able to meet their new fourth grade teachers this week and they are ready to begin fourth grade in September!
The librarian from the Middleborough Public Library visited the third grade classrooms to help build excitement for the summer reading program. Reading over the summer is important so students retain the progress and learning from this school year. Reading practice, just like sports practice, helps children improve their skills and become stronger readers. We encourage the children to take advantage of the Middleborough Public Library and track their summer reading progress.
We hope all our third grade families have a safe and happy summer!
Grade 4
That’s a wrap! Your children are 180 school days smarter but they have gained so much more than can be measured in 180 days. They are taller, their faces have changed, their personalities are blooming into young adolescents, and they have gained new knowledge academically as well as about themselves. Treasure your days together this summer because childhood is fleeting…
We thank you for sharing your children with us this year!! Read, explore, and have an incredible summer!
Love,
Your 4th grade teachers
