Halloween Parade
You are cordially invited to our Halloween Day Parade to be held on the front loop of Reynolds School on Thursday, October 31, 2024. We will hold one parade for Reynolds School that will take place at 9:00 am. The children are asked to wear their costumes to school. They should bring clothes that they can change into following the parade.
For the safety of our children, we request that parents do not enter the building either before or after the parade. Assigned classroom parents will be available to assist with the class parties. Spectators are asked not to wear scary masks. Halloween is a fun time, but scary adult masks are not appropriate for our parades.
In the event of rain, the parades will be cancelled. However, the children may still wear their costumes and dress for their parties. Dismissal for the day will be at the normal time. Remember to send in a note if dismissal plans are different for that day.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this enjoyable event.
BUS SAFETY DRILLS
On October 1st, all Reynolds students will participate in an annual bus evacuation drill. Scholastic Bus Co. invites students to board a school bus and practice how to evacuate the bus via the rear emergency exit door. The teachers accompany the students during the bus evacuation. Students learn what to do in the event of a bus emergency and how to keep themselves safe. Mandatory bus drills benefit all students, as students travel on a bus for field trips and many to/from school. A second bus evacuation drill will be held in the spring.
Week of Respect and Red Ribbon Week
Throughout the month of October, Reynolds students will be focusing on the Star Power Word of the Month: Respect. We will host a special theme day each Friday; giving students a fun way to learn about respect. On Friday October 4th our theme will be "Respect Each Other's Differences: Wear a shirt that tells us something about you." On October 11th students will be invited to brainstorm different ways to show respect at school, home, and in the community. Our theme day is all about school spirit- wear green! Reynolds will also have a special assembly "Diversity Circus." On Friday October 18th students are invited to wear pajamas and bring in a favorite stuffed animal because "Being Respectful is a Dream Come True!" Finally, on October 25th we will celebrate district-wide "USR is a Team! Wear Your Favorite Team Jersey" We look forward to a fun and educational month!
Second Grade Club Opportunities
Reynolds has an exciting opportunity for second graders. We are offering two after school clubs, the Green Team Environmental Club and the Fun & Games Club. Please speak with your child to see if she/he is interested in participating in one of these offerings. Students can join one club offering, either the fall or spring, with the hope to serve as many interested students as possible. More information will be sent to second grade families on September 30th at 9:00 am with details about each club and their meeting dates. Sign ups will be open until October 4th at 4:00pm.
Parent Volunteers
We would like to express our gratitude to all parent volunteers at Reynolds School. Your efforts in supporting our students, classrooms and teachers are greatly appreciated. We kindly ask all parent volunteers for the 2024-2025 school year to watch this brief training video and review the HIB portion of our District Website in connection to HIB reporting and providing a safe learning environment for all students. Thank you for your cooperation and dedication to our school community!
