Dear Parents,

Happy New Year Warrior Family! I hope you had a wonderful winter break with family and friends. We are looking forward to the 2nd semester of learning where we will continue to set high expectations for each students academic success.

I want to take a moment to commend our community for everything you’ve done to support our students and to build a strong school community. Thank you to each of you for your commitment, passion, and dedication to make Maude Moore Wood Elementary the BEST!

Report cards will be sent home Wednesday, January 8th. Please review the report card, sign and return it to school with your child. Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to discuss his/her academic progress. Thank you for all you do to help your child be successful in school. We appreciate your partnership!

We will be administering the middle of the year universal screening assessment (MAP) for all students in Kindergarten through 5th grade this month. Our PK students will take the CIRCLE assessment. The data we collect from these assessments will allow us to identify the amount of academic growth students have made since the fall administration and intervene appropriately to meet each students needs. You will receive a copy of the assessment data.

We will have our 1st semester awards ceremony in February. I have included the invitation below for you to save the dates/times. We cannot wait to celebrate all of the students hard work and growth.

The district continues to closely monitor the weather for the remainder of the week and will update accordingly. Please continue to send your child(ren) bundled up and prepared for the cold weather. If your child does not have a jacket or you know of a child needing a jacket, please email Ms. Dibble at Amber.Dibble@killeenisd.org. We are happy to help!

Maude Moore Wood Warriors welcome the new year with great reflection and forward momentum. We are moving quickly into the new year with a new respect for life, for others, and for ourselves. Respect can be a source of tremendous joy and great appreciation. We can support our community by engaging (honoring each other), empowering (practicing forgiveness), and exceling (honoring those who serve). Please remember to read the newsletter conversation starters to lean in with us and center our minds on respect. Our counseling highlights for January include responsibility, celebrating diversity, safety week, and diversity.
