Jump Start- For Incoming 6th Grade Students 2024-2025 School Year
We would like to invite your child(ren) to attend our middle school Jump Start Program this summer.This 2-day program will run from Monday, August 12th through Thursday, August 15th. We will meet at Bernotas Middle School from 8:45am–11:00am for your 2 days of Jump Start.
- For students whose last name starts with A-L, your Jump Start days are on Monday and Tuesday (8/12 and 8/13).
- Students with last names starting with M-Z, your Jump Start day will be Wednesday and Thursday (8/14 and 8/15).
While in Jump Start, the Vikings will meet some of their new staff members, tour the building, learn about our extracurricular opportunities, practice locker combinations, and other great activities. If you are interested in having your student participate, please sign up using this link JUMP START. If you would like to sign up by computer/Chromebook please refer to the Jumpstart email you will receive for the link.
Parents must provide transportation to and from the Jump Start program. Drop students off at the front of the building. They will enter at DOOR 20 (Athletic Entrance) – pick up students from the front at 11:00 am.

6th Grade Orientation and New Families to RBMS:

- Tuesday, Aug 13th: 6pm-8:00pm. Families with last name A - L.
- Thursday, Aug 15th: 6pm-8:00pm. Families with last name M-Z.
All students will receive a copy of their schedule and their locker number/combination during Orientation.
Locker Set Up

- Bring school supplies and items to set up lockers. Please note - No tape may be used on lockers
When:
- Friday, Aug 16th: 8am - 3:00pm all grade levels
- Monday, Aug 19th: 3pm - 6pm all grade levels
If you are not able to attend Orientation or Locker Set-Up, do not worry! Staff members will be on hand as students arrive on the first day, Wed Aug 21st, to help direct them to their Period 1 classroom.
If you are unable to bring in your school supplies during Locker Setup, feel free to have your student bring items on the first day. We suggest that students bring only what they can comfortably carry in their backpacks and then bring the rest over the course of the week. For the first day, folders, notebooks, and pens/pencils should be all that is needed.

- State of Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination dated on or after August 21, 2023.
- May be submitted to the Bernotas Middle School office on or after August 2, 2024 or email anytime to rbmmedrecords@d47.org. MUST be completed and received PRIOR to the first day of school.
- Certificate of Religious Exemption Form available upon request.
- Proof of School Dental Examination Form dated on or after May 15, 2025.

The Crystal Lake Friends of Gifted Education (CLFOGE) is a not-for-profit, volunteer-staffed group of parents and educators who are dedicated to supporting gifted education in District 47.
