A Note from the Principal
Dear Olmito Elementary Families,
We are excited to share important updates and reminders as we continue our journey through the spring semester. Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring our students’ success. Please take note of the following:
📌 TELPAS Testing: February 17-28
Emergent Bilingual and Parental Denial students in 2nd-5th grades will participate in the TELPAS assessment during this time. Please ensure that your child is present, well-rested, and ready to do their best. Refer to the letter sent by Mrs. Rodriguez for further details.
🥞🍳 February Attendance Challenge Continues – Breakfast Incentive 🥓🍳
We are halfway through February, and second grade is currently in the lead! However, with nine days left, it’s still anyone’s game. The grade level with the most hearts earned by the end of the month will win a catered breakfast from the Child Nutrition Department. Let’s keep attendance strong—Attendance = Growth!
❤️ "Love To Be On Time" – No Tardies/Perfect Attendance Challenge
We are thrilled to recognize the many students who were present and on time from February 10-14! These students will receive a special treat on Monday during their lunch period. Keep up the great work!
🎉 "Dress Down Day" Attendance Challenge
Our students are excited about the "Dress Down Day" attendance pass challenge! This first round runs from February 12 through March 6. Students with perfect attendance during this period will be recognized at lunch on March 6, receive a special bracelet, and enjoy a dress-down day on Friday, March 7!
📝 Upcoming Assessments – Spring District Assessments
Parents of 3rd-5th grade students, please note that Spring District Assessments are coming up.
Reading Language Arts - Tuesday, February 25, 2025
Math - Tuesday, March 4, 2025
Science - Wednesday, March 5, 2025
These assessments help identify strengths and areas for growth as we prepare for STAAR testing and the transition to the next grade level. Please encourage your child to do their best!
Thank you for your continued support in making Olmito Elementary a great place to learn and grow. We appreciate all you do to ensure your child’s success!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Garcia
