Kids Reading Across RI Virtual Kickoff

Ask the Author
How to Win a Slime War author Mae Respicio will kick off KRARI 2022 with a virtual event on Thursday, April 28 at 1pm. Please use this form to submit questions your students have about the book, writing, reading, or anything they're curious in knowing more from the author. While we will not be able to get to all submitted questions during the hour long event, we will share all questions with the author following the discussion.

Latino Books Award Voting
Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade can now vote for their favorite book on the 2022 RI Latino Books Award Nominees.
Voting for the 2022 RI Latino Books Award will take place April 1, 2022 through May 30, 2022. Schools and libraries may submit their voting results online at https://form.jotform.com/212453516902148 or by emailing mcotto@pawtucketlibrary.org

Guest Speaker: Best Buddies International Elisabeth Townsend Program Manager/Mission Expansion
Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Best Buddies serves, but is not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities.

RI Libraries in the News
Congratulations to the West Warwick Library being named a finalist for the 2022 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities. Since 1996, the award has honored 176 institutions that demonstrated extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service.
Congratulations to the Warwick Public Library on their new mobile library, the "Pop-up Library" that has hit the road this week.
