The Livingston Board of Education and Township Council will hold a public joint "5-on-5" meeting at 7PM on November 11, 2024. The location of the meeting is to be determined and will be announced prior to the meeting date.
In October, Livingston Public Schools joins districts statewide to honor The Week of Respect and School Violence Awareness Week! Our programs will highlight our continued focus and dedication to teaching acceptance, anti-racism, kindness and respect in order to foster positive and safe school environments.

Thirteen Livingston High School students were named to College Board’s National Recognition Program. This annual honor celebrates top-performing high school students who belong to communities historically underrepresented on college campuses. FIND OUT WHO EARNED THIS HONOR HERE!
Congratulation to LHS seniors Anvay Sur and Jenny Zhu for earning Honor Society Degrees from the the National Speech & Debate Association (also known as the National Forensic League). Anvay earned Special Distinction degree, while Jenny earned the Honor level degree.
The organization recognizes middle school and high school students and coaches for participation in speech and debate activities. Students earn merit points for participation in one of the oldest and most respected honor societies known to college admissions offices. As members earn points they also earn Honor Society degrees. Degrees recognize progress, provide motivation, and offer distinction. Each time a new degree is earned, members are mailed a corresponding seal for their custom membership certificate to be kept as a keepsake or displayed at school.

The application window is now open to express interest in the district's Middle School Gifted and Talented (GT) Art and Music programs.
Previously enrolled students do not need to re-apply. All applications must be submitted electronically no later than Friday, October 11, 2024. Detailed information for both the GT Art and GT Music programs, along with the applications for both programs, can be found in the links below:

Bill Lillis, Parent Education Coordinator for the Partnership for a Drug-Free NJ, will present to parents on how to talk to your kids about drugs and alcohol, utilizing teachable moments, identifying risk and protective factors and strengthening parenting and communication skills during the adolescent years. The effects of substance use, the influence of media and pop culture as well as where and how to seek support will also be reviewed. The LPS Student Assistance Program provides prevention, intervention, support and instructional services for students in the district. As part of its efforts, the Student Assistance Program offers a variety of virtual programs for parents during the school year. Programs scheduled for the 2024-2025 school year include:
Livingston Public Schools strives to respond to concerns and/or questions as quickly and effectively as possible. In a school system, as in any organization, the “chain of command” refers to communication levels of authority in the school district. The philosophy behind the chart in the link below is to refer community members to those people in the organization who can best solve any concerns or questions that may arise, and then direct them to the appropriate people if issues are not able to be effectively addressed at the first level.
LPS takes school security very seriously and follows all of the safety protocols that are practiced regularly with the Livingston Police Department. These protocol include school lockdowns, which are designed to secure schools and protect students during emergency situations. Parents have a part to play in school lockdown safety as well! LPS students, staff members, and their families can use Care Solace to quickly find verified mental health, behavioral health, and substance use treatment options matched to their needs, regardless of circumstances. Care Solace’s team is available 24/7/365 and can support you in any language. This is a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL service provided by LPS. Learn more about Care Solace.

This competition offers a unique opportunity for Livingston High School students to raise awareness about environmental themes they care about! The Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities (LACD) will sponsor program by Laurie Hauptman, Esq. of the law firm Hauptman and Hauptman, PC on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 6:30 pm at the Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Ave. in Livingston, NJ in Room T3. Hauptman and Hauptman, PC is a law firm devoted solely to estate, elder, and disability law. Information about Laurie Hauptman is available at www.HauptmanLaw.com. Financial and legal planning for loved ones with special needs will be discussed at this meeting. Information such as what to do when a child with special needs turns 18 will be shared with the audience. Additional topics will include guardianships, conservatorships, and special needs trusts used in protecting a child with special needs. SHINING STARS ADAPTIVE SPORTS & RECREATION
The Township of Livingston's Shining Stars Adaptive Sports & Recreation program is offering two programs this fall:
- Saturday morning sports classes will be offered for ages 4+ at Monmouth Court Community Center.
- After School Recreation Activities will be offered for children ages 4+ located at the Senior Community Center.
An I.E.P/504 is required for sports leagues and programs. These programs are open to non-residents.

LTV, Livingston, NJ's community access television channel, can be found on cable television via Comcast (Channel 34) and Verizon (Channels 26 and 28). Additionally, LTV can now be found online at www.LivingstonTV.org, which provides a live stream of the cable channel plus numerous shows available to watch ON-DEMAND! LTV is operated by the Livingston Public Broadcasting Committee, a group of volunteers (adults and high school students) who recognize all the good that Livingston has to offer; have an interest in television programming, production, operations and marketing; and give their time toward promoting local information, entertainment, and education to all members of the Livingston community!
