Leadership Message
Dear OLA School Community,
Lent should be less about “what we do” and more about walking with Christ in the desert, allowing our hearts and the hearts of our children and grandchildren to draw closer to Jesus through deeper prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
This week our classes have made a resurrection garden for LENT. A Resurrection Garden is a symbolic Easter display, often a miniature garden, representing the empty tomb of Jesus and symbolizing his resurrection. Ask your child about this!
Have a good week!

Books of Blessings: Share the Joy of Reading
This Easter season, take part in the spirit of almsgiving by donating gently used or new books to bless others with the joy of reading! We are collecting books at our school, now through April 17th to share within our school community and beyond. Some donations may also support Lurana Shelter.
As we prepare our hearts for Easter, this act of generosity reflects the call to care for others. Students are creating special bookmarks with Bible verses and kind messages to include with each book, making this a meaningful way to spread love and encouragement.
Please drop off your book donations in the labeled bins at school. Thank you for helping young minds grow through the gift of reading!

It delivers the Alberta Education curriculum at a structured, sequential pace, offering enhanced learning opportunities. With a clear, direct teaching approach, the program emphasizes consistency and high expectations, helping students to reach their full academic potential building a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
Each child is created in the image and likeness of God and has distinct gifts and strengths. Guided by the school division’s commitment to Mark 1 of Excellent Catholic Schools, we honour and nurture the God-given potential within every student.

Jubilee Year-Pilgrims of Hope
A jubilee is a special celebration, renewal, and forgiveness period rooted in religious and secular traditions. In the Christian tradition, a Jubilee Year, or Holy Year, is a time of special spiritual significance declared by the Pope, often held every 25 years (or during extraordinary jubilees). It offers Catholics a unique opportunity for renewal in faith, repentance, pilgrimage, and the reception of special graces or indulgences. The jubilee concept symbolizes mercy, justice, and restoration, inviting people to reflect on forgiveness, equality, and spiritual growth.
