Starlight Gala a Huge Success!
Thank you to everyone who supported MHS and the MCS Foundation Friday at the Gala! It was a tremendous success! Our band and Orchestra were part of the festivities and the STOs were recognized for their partnership with the schools. What a great night to be a Rebel!
Dear MHS Parents and Students,
Welcome to the first week of March! This is our last week of school before Spring Break. Spring Break will be from March 10-18th. We hope everyone has a safe Spring Holiday and we look forward to having students back on March 19th.
Please be aware that Maryville High School will be holding subject specific intervention sessions March 18th. Intervention will occur during morning and/or afternoon sessions. Morning sessions will being at 8:30am and end at 11:30am. Afternoon session will resume at 12:10pm and end at 3:00pm. Any student who is invited to participate in intervention will receive an email to their school email address with their assignment for the days.
Junior Parents - all juniors will be taking the ACT on Tuesday, March 25th at school. This ACT is provided free of charge to all students in their junior year and is an outstanding opportunity for our students. Please mark this date on your calendar! Any students who miss school this day will be pulled from class to take the make-up exam.

MHS DECA Program
From February 26th - 28th, 23 Maryville High School students competed at the Tennessee DECA State Career Development Conference in Chattanooga. We are thrilled to recognize the following students who placed in the top six of their events: Netsa Gibson, Addie Thompson, Abby Hall, Holland Harvard, Taniya Bharwad, Madelyn Coulter, and Blanton Dietz! We are incredibly proud of all our competitors for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication. They showcased their talents and represented Maryville with excellence—congratulations, Maryville DECA!
Network Opportunities for Students
This spring, students will have several opportunities to network with local employers currently hiring by potentially attending FOUR career fairs over the next three months!
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 11th and 12th grade student will have the opportunity to attend the Blount County Job Fair at Foothills Mall. Space is limited so students must pre-register for the field trip and attend a mandatory information meeting on Tuesday February 19, 2025, at 8:00 AM in the Ready Graduate Classroom to attend. This year's 865 Ready Hiring Expo is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2025, Jacob Building at Chilhowee Park and Expo Center. Finally, all MHS students are invited to attend the MHS Summer Job Showcase at Maryville High School during lunch from April 7-11, 2025. This showcase is specifically designed for students looking for part time and summer jobs. There is no registration for this event.

Pellissippi Spring Break Programs
We’re excited to offer two incredible hands-on spring break opportunities for high school students at Pellissippi State Community College!
🔧 Welding Youth Camp – A three-day experience where students will learn basic welding skills and gain real-world shop experience.
🛠ACE CNC Machining Youth Camp – A four-day, no-cost camp introducing students to precision machining and computer-controlled manufacturing.
These camps provide valuable technical skills that will help students stand out on college and job applications, giving them an edge in today’s competitive workforce.

Attention seniors! The following scholarships are due THIS Monday, March 3: Dr. Penny Ferguson Scholarship, Boone Dixon Memorial Scholarship, Skeeter Shields Scholarship and William Bennett Scott Scholarship. Each of these scholarships will be awarded to a student at MHS!
Class of 2027 Students - If you were invited to join the Early College Experience (ECE) program, please complete the online application by the 3/6 deadline. With questions about ECE, reach out to your School Counselor or to Mrs. Abernathy.
May 25th-May 30th 2025 The American Legion Boys State is held at Tennessee Tech University and is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students. It is a participatory program where each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county and state government. If you are a current Junior male with a 3.3gpa or higher that are interested in citizenship, please see Mrs. Murphy in guidance. Nomination Forms are Due by Friday, February 28th.
Girls State will convene on the campus of Liscomb Univeristy from May 25- May 31st. Since 1947, Volunteer Girls State, a program of the American Legion Auxiliary, has invested in more than 25,000 rising senior in Tennessee by providing the tools they need to become confident, informed citizens and voters. The nonpartisan program is offered annually to more than 575 of Tennessee’s rising high school seniors. If you are intersted please see Mrs. Murphy in guidance. Nomination Forms are Due by Friday, February 28th.

STUDENT CHECK OUT PROCEDURES
Check-outs should be held to a minimum and are limited to the following:
Emergency - Decision to be made by the principal or assistant principals.
Prior arrangement - If a written request is received by officials in the student services office prior to the beginning of the school day, the student will be dismissed at the requested time. The checkout note must include the student’s full name, date, time of dismissal, phone number where parent/guardian can be reached for verification, and signature of the parent/guardian.
- The parent/guardian comes to the main entrance office to sign the student out.
Students who become sick during the school day must report to the assistant principal’s office/school nurse before they call home. The assistant principal’s office will assist the student and permit the student to call home. The student will remain in the assistant principal’s office or with the school nurse until he/she receives permission to go home or until he/she is picked up by a parent/guardian.
Students are allowed to check out during third block only for medical or legal purposes, and proper documentation must be provided. Students are not allowed to check out to retrieve items needed for school. Leaving school without permission will result in disciplinary action.
Students checking out of school on an altered schedule day will receive an unexcused absence unless the school is provided the appropriate legal or medical documentation.
