Paschal Panthers celebrated first responders last week in their game against Nimitz. The defense was lights out once again as they held Nimitz to only 7 points. The Panther defense would also score their second touchdown of the year with a fumble recovery and score by Elijah Rose. The Panther offense was firing on all cylinders this week as they responded to their not so stellar rushing attack a week ago. The men responded to the coaches as the team would rush for 300-yards on the night. The offense would only need 4 plays to score on their opening drive when Will Henry threw a pass to Boston Dulle for a 7 yard touchdown. The ground attack was led by Maki Gee who led all rushers with 103 yards rushing. He had 3 runs of 20 or more in this contest and would set up his older brother twice for touchdown plays. Chris Gee scored twice on the ground and would have 77 yards rushing. The Gee brothers would average 12.3 yards a carry in this one. Nimitz could not tackle these two, they will be a force all season long.
The Panthers leading tackler would be Nick Lopez who is in the back anchoring the defense. He had 14 tackles on the night and would later be named Player of the Week for your Panthers. The Panthers will take on Dallas Kimball this Friday at Sprague at 7:30.
Go Panthers.
JV
JV squad moves to 2-0 on the year after shutting out the Nimitz Vikings by a score of 15-0. The defense played lights out again allowing 1 first down and holding Nimitz to negative yardage on offense. Mason Johnson ended the Vikings’ night with an interception. The JV will be at home next Thursday as they welcome the Kimball Knights from Dallas.
Isaac Isgur - 7yd TD Run
Eric Campbell 47yd TD Pass to Brayden Gardner
Scott Whitten - 28yd FG
Freshmen
The freshmen came out swinging when they scored from the second play from scrimmage. JaShuan Thomas pulled the ball and went 60-yards for a score. Jackson Sheppard would convert the two point play in the Panthers short yardage package THE BOX. The defense had a stellar night as they only allowed 85 yards and had shut-out. Mugisha Franc was on lock down at corner as he only allowed one catch, but stripped the ball from the receiver and had his own touchdown. There were plenty of big plays on offense from John Williams who had a 45-yard run on a reverse. That would later set up a pass to Jack English on a 30-yard catch from Sheppard that would be downed at the one. JaShuan would later score his second touchdown of the night and the Panthers converted the 2-pt play. Mike Guerrero had several big runs of his own to help set up scoring opportunities. The Panthers won the game 24-0. This team looks forward to playing Kimball next week and advancing to 3-0.
