What's happening at ALA? (PreK-12th Grade Communication)
Registration for 2025-2026 School Year
All families, please take a moment to log in and complete your student's registration or let us know if they will not be returning next school year. Doing this as soon as possible will help us plan thoughtfully and allocate resources to best support our students. If your child will not be returning to ALA, declining their seat will allow us to offer spots to families on our waitlist. Below are the steps to complete your student's registration or share your plans for next year:
Go to saisd.net/enroll
Select “returning student”
Login using your previous credentials
If you are having issues logging in, select “Account Lookup”
If you do not have access to Avela or are having issues logging in, please reach out to your Campus Clerk:

4th-6th Grade Author Visit
Thanks to our neighbors, The Twig, ALA is excited to host Adrianna Cuevas in April for a special talk and visit for the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classes. Families may purchase books to be signed by either ordering online or returning the order form with cash or check to the library. Books must be ordered by March 29th in order to arrive in time.
Summer PE Registration is now OPEN!
The ALA Summer PE program is a special opportunity for our students to earn their required HS physical education credit in just two weeks. Students participate in a variety of hands-on and participatory field experiences that focus on lifetime recreation and outdoor pursuits. Summer PE is open to rising 9th-12th graders!
Due to the short length of the Summer PE program, students must attend all sessions and complete all assignments in order to earn high school credit. Summer PE is an in-person course. A schedule will be emailed to each registrant and their parent/guardian at the close of registration.

Highlights
Kinder Magik Theater Field Trip
Kindergarten students had an amazing experience watching Elephant and Piggie: We are in a Play come to life at the Magik Theatre. Students were so excited when they saw books we have read in class performed live on the stage. It was the perfect launch for our Folktales and Fairy Tales PBL. Students will study various components of the tales including characters, plot, and setting. The students also enjoyed popcorn, water, and playing at the park after the performance.
Trinity Science Presentation
Our Kinder through 3rd grade students had an unforgettable experience during the physics demonstration! They witnessed real-world applications of physics concepts including Newton’s First Law as a tablecloth was swiftly pulled out from under dishes–showing that objects at rest truly stay at rest. The excitement continued with many minds-on experiences, leaving students in awe as they saw science in action. Thank you to our Trinity Professor and students for this demonstration!

Testing Information
ALA Tech Families,
As we approach the spring testing season, we want to share important information about the upcoming STAAR and End of Course (EOC) exams. These assessments are a critical part of our academic calendar, and it is essential that all students are present and prepared on their testing days.
Testing Dates:
April 8 – 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th Grade STAAR Reading & English I EOC
April 10 – English II EOC
April 15 – 5th & 8th Grade STAAR Science & Biology EOC
April 16 – U.S. History EOC
April 22 – 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th Grade STAAR Math & Algebra I EOC
Important Reminders for Families:
All tests will begin first thing in the morning, so it is critical that students arrive on time and well-rested.
Students who arrive after 10:00 AM on a testing day will not be able to begin the exam and will need to take it on a designated make-up day.
Please do not schedule any appointments on testing days, as the campus will be closed to all visitors to maintain a secure and quiet testing environment. If you currently have any scheduled appointments on your student’s testing day, please try and reschedule.
Parents will not be allowed to drop off food for students on these days, so please ensure your child brings a lunch if they are not eating from the cafeteria.
8th–12th grade students taking STAAR or EOC exams must bring their fully charged district-issued device and charging cord with them on their scheduled testing days.
We appreciate your continued support in helping our students succeed. A full night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and positive encouragement will help them feel confident and prepared.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at any time.
