Pierce PTA Post
October 9, 2024 Issue 8
At Pierce, the support of our parents and families is invaluable in making our school the great community that it is. So far this year, we’ve had parents volunteering at Back to School events, the Pierce Carnival, and the Fun Run - along with daily in our Pierce library, and offering to support our teachers as room parents and classroom helpers.
We have some one-time needs coming up, along with various PTA Volunteer Positions. Please see the Volunteer section below to learn more. Thank you for all your help!

Accelerated Reader
The Accelerated Reader program is up and running for students in 2nd - 5th grades! As we near the first point harvest, we want to remind any student interested in participating in this PTA-sponsored program that in order to be eligible for the big AR party in the spring, students MUST EARN AT LEAST ONE POINT DURING EVERY HARVEST PERIOD.
The deadline for the first point harvest is at noon on Tuesday, October 15th. Any student who does not earn at least one point by this time may still earn AR prizes throughout the year, but will not be eligible for the final party in the spring.
You can find more information about the AR program information here.
Please reach out to your teacher or the AR Co-chairs directly at PierceElementaryAR@gmail.com with any questions.
Yearbook Photos
Please send us your photos for the opportunity to be in the yearbook! We need your pictures from Back to School, Carnival, Fun Run, Centennial Celebration and other in-school events. Send photos to PierceElementaryYearbook@gmail.com to be considered.
Library Volunteer Hours
One of our biggest needs each year is daily help in our school library. Before you volunteer in the library, we ask that you attend a 25 minute training session. Once you are trained, you'll be sent the Sign Up Genius to sign up for slots. There are 5 open slots/school day (2 in the morning, 1 midday, 2 in the afternoon) and you are welcome to sign up for as many or few as fit your schedule.
Currently, we have training sessions scheduled on select Thursdays. No need to sign up ahead of time, please just check in at the office & head to the library that morning. Training dates are scheduled as follows. Please reach out to pierceelementarypta@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Monday, November 11th 8:50-9:15am
Halloween Costumes
Do you have Halloween costumes at your house that you can no longer use? Please consider bringing in any gently costumes to the Pierce Office. We are looking to revamp our Halloween costume collection.
Any families that need costumes, please contact Angela Geisler.
