Central Mountain High School
Keystone Central School District
Message From the Principal
Dear Wildcat Families,
As we step into April, the excitement around Central Mountain High School is undeniable! The longer days and warmer weather bring new opportunities for our students, and I am proud of the many ways they are engaging in academics, the arts, athletics, and community partnerships. Let’s take a look at what’s happening this month at CMHS.
Spring Sports Are in Full Swing!
Our student-athletes are hitting the fields, courts, and tracks with determination and Wildcat pride! Baseball, softball, track and field, and boys’ tennis are all underway. I encourage everyone to come out and support our teams as they compete throughout the season. The hard work, dedication, and teamwork displayed by our athletes are truly inspiring.
CMHS Presents Chicago – April 4-6
Our talented drama students have been hard at work preparing for our spring musical, Chicago! Performances will take place April 4-6, and I have no doubt that our students will put on an incredible show. The dedication of our cast, crew, and directors is remarkable, and I encourage everyone to attend and enjoy an evening of outstanding theater. Tickets are available now—don’t miss out!
Building Future Success Through Community Partnerships
Our students continue to benefit from co-op, internship, and diversified occupation opportunities with local businesses and organizations. These real-world experiences help them develop valuable skills and explore potential career paths. We are grateful to our community partners for investing in our students’ futures and encourage more businesses to collaborate with us in providing these opportunities.
Dual Enrollment Continues to Grow
This spring, we are seeing an increase in students participating in dual enrollment programs, allowing them to earn college credits while still in high school. This is an incredible opportunity for students to get a head start on their post-secondary education and save on future tuition costs. If your student is interested in dual enrollment, please reach out to our counseling department to learn more.
Seniors: The Final Stretch!
With the end of the school year in sight, our seniors are preparing for the many exciting events leading up to graduation. From the ball to senior awards night and, of course, commencement, this is a time of celebration and reflection. We are proud of the Class of 2025 and look forward to honoring their achievements in the coming weeks. Seniors and families—be sure to stay up to date on important deadlines and event details!
Keystone Exam Preparation in Full Effect
Our dedicated teachers are utilizing small group instruction to ensure our students are prepared for the Keystone Exams in May. This personalized approach allows for targeted support, helping students build confidence and mastery in key subjects. I appreciate the efforts of our educators and encourage students to take advantage of the resources available to them.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Central Mountain High School. I look forward to seeing you at our events this spring and celebrating our students' many accomplishments!
Go Wildcats!
Sincerely,
Nick Verrelli

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
We're so excited to have our schools filled with students and teachers where we can all grow and learn together!
There is so much awesomeness that can be achieved when we're present at school. If something is getting in the way of your student coming to school, please reach out to your student's teacher, school counselor, district social worker, or school nurse. We want to make sure that your student is receiving whatever supports necessary to help them be successful.
REMNDER: As we start a new school year, excuses need to be turned in within 3 days of an absence. Use your school's attendance email to make sure that the excuse notes get turned in on time.
CMHS- cmhsattendance@kcsd.k12.pa.us
You may email excuses and early dismissals right to our attendance office. No need to worry if your student is handing in their excuses or not.

Counseling Connection
CMHS Student Services
A counselor is someone to talk to, who will listen without judgment. A school counselor can assist in short-term counseling and if needed arrange long-term counseling and the SAP (Student Assistance Program) and Tier II support. Counselors can teach students tools to improve and cope with different situations, especially because sometimes it's hard to figure out where to start. Students may be want to see a counselor for the following reasons:
Want to share an experience/feelings
- Feel depressed and/or lonely
- Have thoughts of self-harm
- Feel stressed and/or anxious
- Feel angry and/or frustrated
- Want to improve grade(s)
- Talk about college/careers
- Relationship/peer issues/conflicts
- Personal issues (divorce/separation, loss of a loved one, etc.)
To learn more or to schedule a meeting, please contact your student's school counselor.
