Parent Edition - August 25th, 2024
What a great week!
Families... it was an amazing first week of school. It was so refreshing seeing our new and returning leaders walk the halls of Ross. This week your child(ren) met new friends and connected with friends they have not seen all summer. Hugs, high fives, fist bumps were given as a sign of "Welcome to School" or "I missed you!" Your child(ren) spent the week learning about our Core Values and how to follow the expectations in the hallway, classroom, cafeteria, bus and so much more. The first day truly could have not been as successful as it was without the hard work of our dedicated educators and our amazing community! We cannot do this work alone and it is important that we continue to work together towards the shared goal of developing students who are ready for the road that awaits them. We are excited to do it all over again next week!

Arrival and Dismissal Update - Please Read
Arrival News:
Arrival has gone fairly smooth due to our amazing team being outside greeting cars and Parkway Safety being present to direct traffic. We also appreciate all of the families having their children to school no later than 9:00. This has been a HUGE difference with getting instruction started at 9:05. Remember... if arriving late... please walk your child into the building to sign them in.
Dismissal News:
Thank you for your patience for the first couple of days getting cars and buses off of the lot. We know that in the beginning it can take some time. However, on Friday, all cars were off of the lot by 4:13pm. We do ask that if you are greeting your child(ren) you do so by the flagpole or as close to the main entrance as possible. We are having some families still wanting to hang out by where our buses enter and this is a true safety concern. It is also important to keep our sidewalks clear so our students and staff can walk on them. Please help us by following these simple safety procedures.
Parking in Neighborhoods
Families - Starting on Monday, St. Louis County Police will be patrolling the area for cars who are illegally parking in the neighborhoods... specifically on Betsy Ross. After meeting with St. Louis Police... this is what was shared with me:
- Obey all laws
- Do not park or drop off/pick up students on Ross Ave.
- Avoid blocking driveways, parking in driveways, mailboxes, fire hydrants, intersections, etc.
- Do not park in "No Parking" zones.
- Use crosswalks
- Do not park in handicap zones
It is important that we are good neighbor's. Therefore, we thank you in advance by following these rules. It was shared that cars will be ticketed if any of the laws are broken. I can assure you, that as a school, we try our absolute best to get everyone off the lot as quickly as possible. However, the safety of students is our priority so there may be days it takes a bit longer.
