Exceptional in Onslow

Welcome to the first monthly SMORE from the Exceptional Children's Department of Onslow County! We are excited to use this space to highlight our amazing students, staff, and community partners. Our department is organizing various events that will be offered throughout the year to foster a sense of community and belonging among our students, staff, and families.

Mrs. Summers' administration was proud to nominate her, saying “Mrs. Summers has been a strong advocate for her students at Bell Fork Elementary. She not only provides direct speech services for the students, but she is also a large part of the school team. Mrs. Summers’ advice is highly sought after by many team members. She works hard to build relationships with students and attends all EC field trips to assist our students with communication. Her professionalism and meticulous attention to detail provide the perfect platform for parents and staff to trust her professional expertise. She serves as a mentor for therapists who are new to the district, and she is always willing to lend a helping hand.”

November 6th-10th is National School Psychologist Week! This year's theme is "Let's Grow Together," inspired by the importance of both personal and shared strengths in our growth as individuals and school communities in every season of life. The theme recognizes every aspect of growth, as fundamental to effective learning environments and to school psychologists' role in supporting student well-being and learning.
