A message from Dr. Malinoski, Superintendent of Schools
Hello Cedar Families,
As the crisp autumn air begins to settle in, our school year is in full swing, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. October is a month where we find our rhythm, both in and out of the classroom, and it is always wonderful to see the enthusiasm and dedication from our students, staff, and families.
As a district, we continue to focus on the priorities that ensure our students thrive—consistent attendance, active engagement, and the pursuit of excellence. Your support at home is key to maintaining these standards, and together, we can continue to inspire young minds, enrich their lives, and shape bright futures!
As we look ahead, there are many exciting opportunities for students and families to get involved. I encourage you to stay connected, attend school events, and engage with your child’s learning experience. Remember, your involvement makes a difference!
Thank you for everything you do to help your child succeed! If you need anything from us, please do not hesitate to reach out.
We look forward to a fantastic month filled with growth, learning, and achievement!
With Cedar Pride,
Nicole L. Malinoski, Ed.D.

Our Music Students Need Instruments!
Our elementary music program is in dire need of additional instruments to ensure every student has the opportunity to participate and develop their musical talents. If you or someone you know has any unused instruments, whether new or gently used, we would greatly appreciate your donations. Your contribution will make a significant impact on our students' educational experiences and help us continue to provide enriching music lessons.
Please consider checking attics, basements, or storage spaces for any instruments that could be given a new life in the hands of our aspiring musicians. We are particularly in need of the following, but all donations are welcome.
Band:
- Clarinets
- Alto Saxophones
- Flutes
- Baritones
- Trombones
- Trumpets
- Percussion Equipment
- French Horns
Orchestra:
- Violins (full - ¾ sizes)
- Cello (full – ½ sizes)
- Violas (13”-15” sizes)
- Basses (¾ - ¼ sizes)
Donated instruments can be brought to the main offices of all buildings, or you can contact one of our music educators to arrange a pickup. Together, we can ensure that our students continue to receive the high-quality music education they deserve!
Student Transit Cards
All Lebanon School District students are eligible to apply for a Lebanon Transit student fare card and ride the bus for $1.00. Students will need to complete a brief application and verify school enrollment (student photo ID, a letter signed by the school, or student fare card from the previous academic year). Once the application is approved and the fare card is received, students can board a Lebanon Transit fixed route bus, present their student fare card, and pay the reduced fare of $1.00.
Please see one of our SAIP coordinators for more information!
School Security
Last month, our district, along with thousands across the country, dealt with nationwide messages circulating on social media warning of school shootings and bomb threats. Some of the threats have specific schools or locations listed, while others are more generic. To date, there are currently no known credible threats to schools in Pennsylvania.
We want to remind our students and community to always be vigilant and report any threats or suspicious behavior to Safe2Say via phone, email or a link on the www.safe2saypa.org website.
Safety Drill Requirement
One of our most important responsibilities as a district is ensuring mechanisms and procedures are in place which provide a safe learning and working environment for our school community. Our students and staff engage in safety drills throughout the school year covering various emergencies.
These drills allow our students and staff to become familiar with the established safety procedures to respond appropriately should an emergency occur. Drills throughout the year include fire, severe weather, safety, and medical emergency drills.
As per Pennsylvania State regulations, schools must conduct a security drill within the first ninety days of each school year. At that time, principals will lead the staff and students in the drill along with our school police officers.
These critical tests of the district’s emergency preparedness procedures are conducted in a non-threatening manner and are not intended to heighten the alarm of either students or staff. Before the upcoming security drill, teachers will speak with students in an age-appropriate manner about how to respond in an emergency. Teachers will stress that this is a practice drill and there is no reason for concern. We ask for your assistance in discussing the importance of practicing these drills with your child.
The district greatly appreciates your continued support in creating a safe learning environment for our students. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
