But the Lord is faithful. -2 Thessalonians 3:3
MORNING DEVOTION SCRIPTURES
Daily scripture and life lessons are a part of every morning at CCS! Whether it is from Mr. Yearwood, a teacher, a guest, or student leaders, it is the foundation of everything that we do.
Some of the focus scriptures this week were:
- 2 Thessalonians 3:3
- Luke 10:25
- Luke 10:33-36
- Psalm 42:1
- Psalm 1
Highlights from the Week
Staff Appreciation Week
Parents and students poured out their hearts this week to show teachers how thankful they are for them. From our favorite candies, to breakfast, to lunches, to an afternoon coffee pick-me-up, to baskets of goodies and much more; our week was full of surprises!
Thank you to everyone who had a part in showing appreciation for our faculty and staff. It is an honor to serve the Lord and our CCS families!
Spring Book Fair
The Spring Book Fair was a hit! Students in PreK through 6th grade enjoyed visiting the fair and finding lots of books and other items. This fair was coordinated with a Christian company. We really enjoyed the selection!
Thank you, Mrs. Candase for all your hard work with the book fair!
FAWN Field Trip
6th grade students had a great time on the annual FAWN field trip.
FAWN is an acronym for Forestry Awareness Week Now. It is a program for sixth graders to learn about Alabama’s natural resources and environmental issues. The lessons are taught by resource professionals from forest industry and state and federal agencies, and knowledgeable, engaged forest landowners. The goal of the lesson is to present the science-based facts and truth about Alabama’s tremendous forest resource and its importance to their lives.
Stormy Weather Adjustments
Sometimes rainy weather calls for a few adjustments. On Thursday morning this was the case. No worries though! Our teachers adjusted and kept the learning going. Some of the younger classes met in groups in the gym until the rain was clear. Students in the upper school sat in the floor for class and waited about carrying in tables and chairs until the rain stopped.
Volleyball Clinic
Coach Cydney and the upper school volleyball teams spent a few afternoons this week getting charged up and ready for a new season. 22 girls came out this year! This is a fantastic number! We will be able to have three teams: Jr. High (middle school), JV, and Varsity. Our AHSAA area will include: CCS, Addison, Meek, and St. Bernard.
Great job girls!
History Walking Tours
Upper school history classes took the day on Wednesday to enjoy learning more about our hometown. The Cullman County Museum staff hosted student groups on walking tours in the downtown area. They learned about some of the history of our city and much more!
Senior Lunch
Mrs. Law and Mr. Roy treated the seniors to a special lunch treat on Friday. It's so hard to believe they will be graduating soon! We will miss seeing them, but we know that God has big plans for their futures as they begin the next chapter.
Rising 7th Grade Shadow Days
Student Servers
6th grade students did a fantastic job this past Friday helping serve teachers lunch. As a part of Staff Appreciation Week, the PTF provided a steak dinner for the CCS staff. The students enjoyed bussing the tables and serving teachers.
Feudalism Fun
7th grade students enjoyed a simulation of feudalism in Europe this week. The lords had to kneel before the king to receive their manor while the serfs were bound to the land (aka: a desk leg)!
Practice Interviews
Four of our sophomores (Aby, Jack, Emma Grace, and Zoe) will be interviewing for the Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program on Monday morning. On Friday the students practiced their answers and skills with Mrs. Yearwood and Mrs. Wilkins in mock interviews. We are praying for them and are confident that if they are chosen they will represent both CCS and Christ in an outstanding way!

PRAYING PARENT TUESDAYS
We believe in the power of prayer!
