End Of Year Points
Many of you have end of the year traditions with your child's teacher, which we greatly respect. We would ask that you do not wait until the end of next week to try to complete those tasks. The sooner we have access to a book or picture, the more time we will have for it. The end of the year, as shown by the list above, is full of events. So please send anything that you need completed in as early as you can! Thank you.
In addition, we have received a few letters about placement in the last week or so. Please understand that we asked for these letters back in early May because we start our preparations early. While we will try our best, some of these recent letters may not change some very carefully crafted class lists. We also do not ask for specific teacher requests again due to the careful nature of creating the lists and also many scheduling limitations that are considered. Thank you again for your understanding.
Today your students learned about CREATIVITY and how to be a LIFE LEARNER. “I use my imagination to create something unique.” “I love to learn. I read and ask questions about the world. ”Log on to MYBOOSTER.COM to watch the story unfold!

2025-26 BAND/CHORUS NEWS:
For students entering grades 3, 4, or 5 and are interested in joining band and/or chorus, signup information will be going home in backpacks during the first couple of days of school in August, in addition to being in the 2025-26 edition of the JRB newsletter.
For planning purposes, instrument lessons typically begin the 3rd/4th week of school, and will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis depending on instrument, instructor, and schedules.
Beginner Band begins at the end of October and is held on Tuesdays from 3-4pm.
Advanced Band for students returning from this year’s band will resume during the 2nd or 3rd week of school, and will be held on Thursdays from 3-4pm.
We are having an Instrument Demonstration Night on Wed., 9/3 at 6:30pm in the JRB cafeteria. This is a great opportunity for students to try out a couple of instruments before deciding which one to play! (FYI: There is a monthly rental fee for instruments which covers repairs as well as a quarterly lesson fee throughout the school year).
Chorus rehearsals will be held on WEDNESDAY mornings, from 7:30-8:20AM, tentatively beginning Wed., 9/3! We will be preparing for our annual performance at the Celebrate Ashburnham Street Fair on 9/27!
Any questions, please contact Mrs. Lordan: mlordan@awrsd.org.

Hi Briggs Elementary Families,
It’s hard to believe, but we’re already nearing the end of the school year—and with that, it’s time to start thinking ahead to next year’s PTA! My son will be heading off to middle school in the fall, which means my time as PTA President is coming to an end. It’s definitely bittersweet—being part of the PTA has been such a rewarding experience, and I’ve loved working with our incredible parent and teacher community to make fun, meaningful things happen at Briggs. Now, it’s time for a new team to step in—and we’d love for you to be a part of it!
All PTA Board positions are open for the 2025–2026 school year, including:
● President
● Vice President
● Treasurer
● Secretary
Each position is a one-year term, and no special background is needed—just a bit of time, a team spirit, and a passion for helping our school community thrive. If you're interested in joining the board or want to learn more, please send an email to jrb.pta@gmail.com. We'd be happy to chat, answer questions, and help you find a role that feels like a good fit.
Our next PTA meeting is on Wednesday, June 4th at 6:30 pm in the JRB library. During the meeting we will vote on next year’s board. We encourage anyone interested in getting involved to attend!
A huge thank you to this year’s wonderful board team:
Melissa Basnett – President
Erica Callahan – Vice President
Elisabeth Branham – Treasurer
Brittany Jeffery – Secretary
It’s been a pleasure serving alongside this amazing group of volunteers. I’ll miss being part of the board, but I’m excited to see where the next group of leaders will take things! Thanks for all your support this year—and here’s to another great one ahead!
Warmly,
Melissa Basnett
PTA President, Briggs Elementary
Happy Friday JRB Families!
The warmer, sunnier weather is finally upon us! Please remember to have your student bring a water bottle, filled with water, to school daily. These last couple of weeks are filled with fun classroom activities that may be held outdoors, and overheating in the sun is something we can prevent by staying hydrated.
If your student has medication and/or medical supplies in the nurse's office, please plan on picking up before the end of the day on June16th. Medications and supplies can not be placed in the backpacks of students and must be picked up by an adult. All medications not picked up by 1215pm June 16th, will be medically disposed of.
Have a great weekend!
Nurse Cassie

While today was the last day for students to pull books to borrow, we will still have our small team of parent volunteers here through 6/6. Please keep looking for any books that need to be returned.
We still need volunteers for next year! If you are able to help, please reach out to Julie Tamayo @ julieanntamayo@gmail.com.
