As many of you may be aware, an upcoming solar eclipse is scheduled to occur in our area on Monday, April 8th. As our normal dismissal is before the event, we are not changing dismissal time. However, we urge parents and guardians to discuss eclipse safety measures with their children and ensure they are aware of the precautions to take during the event. After care children will be kept inside for their safety. I have included some safety tips below.

Eclipse Viewing Safety Tips:

• Never Look Directly at the Sun: It is crucial to never look directly at the sun without a special-purpose safe solar filter.
• Avoid Viewing through Cameras or Telescopes: Refrain from looking at the sun through a camera, telescope, or binoculars while using eclipse glasses.
• Ensure Proper Eclipse Glasses: Make sure your eclipse glasses meet the International Safety Standard ISO 12312-2 and are in good condition—free from tears, scratches, or loose frames.
• Purchase from Reputable Vendors: Visit the American Astronomical Society (AAS) website for a list of reputable vendors who sell eclipse glasses.
• Ordinary Sunglasses are Not Safe: Ordinary sunglasses do not provide adequate protection for viewing the sun during an eclipse.

Spirit items may only be worn on Fridays and designated Spirit Days. These are not uniform items. You may also wear last year's spirit items. Spirit items must be worn with the uniform.
