Elk Island Catholic Schools is committed to enhancing the delivery of faith-integrated education and holistic support for our students and staff. As part of this mission, we’ve launched our 2024-2025 Education Assurance Survey, providing an opportunity for families, staff, and students to share their perspectives.

The survey, which was was sent out by email on Monday, Jan. 20, helps us to understand how well our EICS community feels we are meeting our mission to provide educational opportunities rooted in Gospel values, celebrate and nurture students, and guide them on a lifelong spiritual journey.

How to Participate

• Parents/guardians and staff will receive a survey link via email. If you don’t see it in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder.
• If you have multiple children attending EICS schools, you’re encouraged to complete the survey once for each school your children attend to reflect on each child’s unique experience.
• Students in Grades 4-12 will complete the survey during school hours.
• If you have any questions, or did not receive the survey, please email us at eicsassurance@eics.ab.ca.

The feedback provided by respondents is anonymous and plays a critical role in guiding decision-making at both the school and division levels.

All surveys must be completed by Monday, Feb. 10.

Pre-K Program Details:

Child must be 4 years old by December 31, 2025 to Register

Pre-Kindergarten is designed to increase communication, socialization, and learning readiness (pre-printing, fine motor, and gross motor skills) for successful entry into Kindergarten. The program provides children with a wide variety of learning experiences in a literacy/numeracy-rich environment.

• PreK (English) Classes - 4 year old (Monday & Thurs) - $125 per month
• PreK (Ukrainian) Classes - 4 year old (Tues & Fri) - $125 per month
• Full day Class (8:30 am to 3:10 pm)
• No Fund-raising required
• Physical Education class in the gym
• The program is planned and implemented by an Certified Program Assistant and supported by a Certified Teacher.

St. Nicholas is proud to offer both English & Ukrainian Bilingual Kindergarten Program & NEW Enrichment Programs (giving the family the opportunity of 5 days a week learning).

Enrichment Program Details:

Welcome back to the New Year!

Here are the upcoming dates and vendors for hot lunch and treat days. Ordering is open for OPA! and the Italian Centre!

Wed, Feb 5th - Hot Lunch - Eng Kinder - OPA! - Ordering is now open and closes Tues, Jan 28th.

Wed, Feb 12th -Treat Day - Eng Kinder - Italian Centre - Ordering is now open and closes Tues, Feb 4th.

Wed, Feb 19th - Hot Lunch - Eng Kinder- Popeye's & A Cappella

Tues, Feb 27th - Treat Day - Uk Kinder- COBS

Tues, Mar 4th - Shrove Tuesday Hot Lunch - Uk Kinder - A Cappella. Parent Council will be funding the Shrove Tuesday lunch of 2 pancakes, 2 sausage, syrup, and butter (ordered from A Cappella) for each student, staff member, and volunteer. The school is asking for a $2 donation to help offset the cost. Please consider supporting this school wide initiative! **Please note that you will not have to put an order through for the Shrove Tuesday pancake lunch. Lunch is automatically provided!**

If you are needing to find the hot lunch website link, please visit St. Nicholas's website and look under the parent tab! There you will find a new Hot Lunch tab that will have current hot lunch info as well as a link to this web page for ordering!

For those that are new to hot lunch, the kinder classes will alternate each hot lunch date so that both classes have the opportunity to participate. While we strive to make the hot lunch dates fair for each kinder class, sometimes volunteer or vendor availability can hinder alternating fairly between the English and Ukrainian classes. We will try to make sure that each class has the same number of hot lunches during the school year. Thank you for understanding.

Please note that there may be food allergens or products that can cause sensitivities (peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, gluten etc) served by each vendor. Unfortunately, while we do our best to accommodate everyone's dietary needs, some vendors may not be able to offer menu items that are completely allergen free or have options that are dairy or gluten free. Please use discretion when ordering if your child has a sensitivity or allergy.
