JACKSON MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of Jackson Elementary School is to provide a safe and supportive learning environment in order to ensure high levels of learning for ALL students.
JACKSON VISION STATEMENT:
We are mission-driven, highly motivated, and maintain the highest expectations for ourselves, our students, and our colleagues. Our students are precious, and we will treat them kindly and with love every day. All of our students will succeed academically no matter what! Our tenacity and focus on what’s best for our children will guide our actions every day.
Hello Jackson Families!
Wednesday was a memorable day at Jackson as we welcomed back some special seniors from the PSHS and PWSH 2024-25 graduating class. These students had attended Jackson Elementary in the 5th grade and were invited to participate in a “Cap and Gown Walk” through the halls of Jackson Elementary! Current students were able to cheer them on and it was motivational for our students to see former Jackson students achieve the milestone of High School graduation. Later that evening, more former Jackson 5th graders gathered at Jackson during the Senior Reunion to reminisce with friends, discuss future plans and visit with former teachers. It was very rewarding to be able to celebrate these students' successes with them. We are so proud of everything they have achieved and we know they have a bright future ahead! Congrats!
What a terrific turnout for our Jackson Reading Night on Thursday! It was awesome to see our students share their excitement for reading with their families! Our students were able to participate in several fun activities--Mystery Readers, a Book Walk and Book Bingo. Everyone had a blast trying to guess who the mystery readers were and the kids were thrilled to have a chance to win books during the Book Walk and Book Bingo. Many books, backpacks and prizes were given away! A HUGE shout-out to Nichelle Pappas, Teresa Ventura and Maria Castaneda for coordinating this event and to all of our Jackson staff who participated in the event. The evening was a big success!
We are excited to announce that the 2024-2025 Jackson Yearbook is for sale now on the Jackson PTA website for $35.00. It's hard to believe that this is our last week of school for the 2024-25 school year! It will be a busy week with 5th grade graduation, awards assemblies and end-of-year celebrations. Friday, May 23, is an early release day and school will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. Busses will be running at 12:00 for early release and parents must be at the bus stops on time to pick up their children. Fifth grade Clap-Out will begin at 11:45. At this time, our K-4th grade students will line the halls to clap for the 5th graders as they exit the building. Parents are welcome to meet their children at the front of the building as they leave. Students who ride the bus will walk on the sidewalk to the bus area. This week will be bittersweet for sure as we prepare to say goodbye to our 5th graders. We will miss them, but we are so proud of their accomplishments!
There are some much needed renovations planned for Jackson during the summer that will begin as soon as school is out on May 23. The tile flooring will be replaced in all hallways, the roof will be replaced and part of our HVAC system will be updated. This is a welcome facelift for Jackson as we get ready to celebrate Jackson's 50th Anniversary next year! From May 27 through June 11, some of our office staff will work from Weatherford Elementary as Jackson will be closed. Over the summer, be watching for communication from Jackson through SchoolMessenger. The District website and Jackson website are great resources as well.

Jackson Elementary Turns 50!

The district calendars for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years have been published. Please use these dates to plan family vacations when school is not in session. It is important that students do not miss school for vacations that can be planned during times of school closure. The Texas State Attendance law requires students to be in school for at least 90% of the school days in order to not face the possibility of being retained in that grade level and parents facing required court appearance and possible fines. If your child is absent from school, you must email the secretary to let her know why they are out (sick, doctor appointment, etc.). Thank you!

Classroom Lessons
Welcome to the Counselors’ Corner! We will use this section of the eNews to inform you all of topics we will be covering in our Counselor lessons and any other important or useful information! Students come with their class to the counselor bi-weekly to receive lessons. We absolutely love this time with them!
For our next lesson, the weeks of 05/05 & 05/12, we will be focusing on Summer Safety and Transitions! We will be discussing ways to stay safe this summer by addressing personal safety skills and the importance of staying hydrated, knowing how to locate a first-aid kit, identifying safe adults, and so much more! We want to ensure summer is a safe and healthy one for students! We will also focus on transitions so students feel confident and ready for their next grade level! Transitions play a vital role in building self-regulation, promoting social-emotional skills, and helping children prepare for future changes. When transitions are handled effectively, they can help children feel more secure, confident, and capable of managing change. This will be our last lesson of the year! We cannot believe how fast the time has flown! We have absolutely loved getting to work with all students and seeing all the growth that has been made! We are already looking forward to our lessons next school year!
Jaguar of the Month Program
Jaguar of the Month is a student reward program (Grades K-5) that incorporates character traits from the program, CharacterStrong. A new character trait is introduced every month and students will engage in classroom discussions and activities to reinforce the trait. At the end of the month, each teacher will identify a student who consistently demonstrated the targeted trait. These students will be recognized on JagTube, receive a certificate, wristband, and a Jackson Jaguar pencil. Grade level group photos will be displayed on the bulletin board near the front office AND Jaguars of the Month will attend a popsicle party with Dr. Roach, our principal, and Mr. Riggle, our assistant principal!
Our final Jaguar of the Month Trait is Creativity! Our definition of Creativity is using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem. Check out the CharacterStrong Family Letter (English) / CharacterStrong Family Letter (Spanish) for more information about PurposeFull People and some fun ways you can join us in teaching and reinforcing Cooperation! Monthly Family Newsletters will be sent home that outline the CharacterStrong skills students are learning in class and provide fun ideas to grow as a family at home.
We hope you find this Counselors’ Corner helpful! Please never hesitate to reach out for anything! We are always here to support you and your students!
Thank you!
