WESTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR - APRIL EDITION
Spring Has Sprung
As we enter the month of April, we are in the final grading period of the year. This month is very important as state testing is here. We start tomorrow 4/1 at 8am. ELA testing is 4/1 & 4/2. Math is 4/3 & 4/4. Science testing for 5th and 8th grade is 4/8 & 4/9. A few ways you can help your child succeed would be to make sure they get a good nights rest as well as make sure they are awake and on time to school. Testing starts at 8am! This is a great opportunity for the students to show all that they have learned.
Spring break is also this month. We are on spring break from Friday April 18th through Friday April 25th. We return to school on Monday April 28th. We hope you are all able to rest and recharge for the last 5 weeks of school after that.
Our three main school rules are:
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Ready to Learn.
We also want to remind everyone that hoods and hats are not permitted to be worn in the building. We also need to keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
We also wanted to remind everyone of our car-rider pick up and drop off procedures. Students are not to cross the road by themselves. If you are parking in the lot, please cross over to get your student. Also, students can only get into a car along the curb! We do not get into cars in the 2nd line which is the driving lane. This is for the safety of everyone. We also do not cross into the lot for the old administration building. This is a safety concern as there are not sidewalks to walk on over there and as we can not see students who have not been picked up. We use both circles to pick students up but please do not block the driveways to enter or exit the circles. We appreciate your support so we can get students dismissed safely.
As always, we appreciate your support and working together as a team in your child's education.
Kalahari Fundraiser
The purpose of the Self-Assessment Survey (SAS) is to examine the status and improvement needs for behavior supports at WWMS.
Bus Reminders
A few reminders when riding a bus:
- Please stay seated the whole time on the bus
- Please talk quietly with your neighbors
- Please do not bring blankets on the bus. This is a safety issue.
- Please let someone know if you are having any issues or problems.
- Please save your food and drinks for when you are not on the bus.
We need to make sure the bus driver has a safe situation to focus and pay attention to the road. We can not do anything to create an unsafe situation!
