Morning Devotion
Each day at CCS, students gather for a song of worship, a scripture and time of devotion, and the singing of the doxology. Some of the scriptures used this past week during morning devotion are listed below.
Some of this week's scriptures were:
- Matthew 11:28
- Matthew 22:34-40
- Proverbs 25:28
- Acts 5:29
- Proverbs 3:5-6
- 1 Peter 3:9
- Nehemiah 4:15-18
Looking Back on Last Week
A Visit from James Spann
Lower school students had a special visit this week from James Spann the weatherman. It was a fantastic time of learning as Mr. Spann talked to students about different types of weather, how he is able to forecast things, and how to stay safe in severe weather. One of the best parts... students gave Mr. Spann a glimpse of what a day at CCS looks and sounds like as they sang the doxology to close the assembly.
Using Talents to Give God Glory
Upper school students are doing a fantastic job using their God-given talents to give Him glory through leading student worship time at morning devotions and on chapel days. Special thanks to Mrs. Warden for leading and directing these students!
Warmer Weather Fun
Jump Rope Ninja
Kindergarten through 6th grade students are competing this month in the Jump Rope Ninja competition in PE classes. This activity helps students set and work toward goals as they move their way through the different colored belts. And... they are having fun and getting in lots of physical activity as they work!
Kids Heart Challenge
February is heart health awareness month. Students are having fun with the Kids Heart Challenge in PE classes. Congratulations to those who have already earned prizes for their work!
Lunchtime
Lunchtime is always a fun time of connecting with peers! Our lunch area is crowded this year, but we are so very thankful to have a space that allows for students to get of the classroom and spend some time with each other over a meal. We currently have 3 lunch shifts at the lower school (1 downstairs and 2 upstairs) to accommodate all the classes.
Working Hard In and Out of the Classroom
Students and teachers are working hard every day in the classroom to grow in knowledge and skill. This growth is magnified when reinforced outside the classroom at home and through homework activities. Thank you parents for partnering with us to help our students grow to their max potential!
Student Bible Teachers
Upper school students are doing a great job serving as devotion leaders on Wednesdays! This past Wednesday Zoe Powell, a Junior, taught a fantastic lesson on the plagues of Egypt and God's intentionality in everything He does.
Learning How the Mail Works
PreK students have been working this month on their Valentines Across America project. This week they had a parent, Mrs. Kourtney, who is a local mail carrier come by to talk to them about her job.
Tennis Practice Underway
Tennis practice is underway with Coach Adams. Participating athletes are practicing every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday afternoon. Matches will begin in March.
Community Serve Day
On Friday, February 7th, upper school students participated in a Community Serve Day. Originally this event was planned this as a part of Spiritual Emphasis Week. Although we decided to take a temporary pause on S.E.W. we did continue with the serve day opportunity.
The students were able to get out and serve in six of our local non-profit ministries around the community. The locations were: Curt's Closet, The Link of Cullman County, Westminster Assisted Living, Margaret Jean Jones, United Way, and Hope Horses.
Our day started with a time of devotion then teams loaded buses to head out to their serve locations. While there the students learned more about the different ministries and helped with different tasks. After returning, students had lunch and some special treats provided by parents. In our afternoon service each serve team shared with the school about what they did and what they learned. To finish the day students broke out into small groups where they discussed questions like:
- What is something that really stood out to you today?
- Is there a difference between humanitarian aid and missionary work? If so, what?
- What makes the work different as a Christian versus a non-Christian?
- What are some factors (positive and negative) that impact us and our opportunities to share the gospel when we are serving others?
- What are some things we can do in our regular, everyday lives to serve others and share the love of Christ?
- What are some things that we can do as a school to impact our community for Christ?
We loved this learning opportunity for students! Our hope is to inspire them to live out the principles we read about over and over again in the Bible to love and serve others.
Thank you community partners, students, parents, and teachers for making Friday possible! We feel this is a huge component of our overall school mission/vision as we work to EDUCATE students classically, EQUIP students spiritually, and SEND students missionally.

Re-Enrollment Reminder
It is time to begin re-enrolling for the 2025-2026 school year!
We are starting a little early this year as we anticipate more applications to process with the implementation of Alabama's CHOOSE Act.
Each school year, you must re-enroll your child(ren). Traditionally this has been during the month of February, but applications are open now for you to get a head start. Each year it has become increasingly important not to delay your re-enrollment and this year is no exception. We already have students on our waiting list for next year and it is growing daily! While we are so excited that so many new families want to enroll their children here, we also want to make sure that our current students keep their seats.
As an existing family, you will use your Gradelink account to re-enroll. You simply need to log in to your Gradelink account using a web browser (not the app) and click the โRe-Enrollโ tab. It will walk you through the current information we have on file and ask you to update any information that has changed or may be missing. At the end, you will pay the $125 re-enrollment fee. Thatโs it! If you have forgotten or lost your login information, please reach out and we will email it to you.
As a side note... If you have family or friends asking you about new enrollments, we will also be opening the application for new families. However, new families will not be processed until the re-enrollment period for existing families is complete. Because of the increased enrollment interest and the implementation of the CHOOSE Act process, we will begin promoting early application so that we can begin processing as soon as possible.
We strongly advise and encourage all existing CCS families to apply for the CHOOSE Act. The CHOOSE application opened on January 2, 2025. More information about this process can be found at https://classwallet.com/alchoose/. There are several upcoming opportunities to participate in a parent webinar. This would be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the details of the program and eligibility requirements! You may register to attend at https://classwallet.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_At5ptlmwQpSYMkP0VKCcbQ#/registration
It's an exciting time at CCS! God is moving hearts and big pieces to the puzzle. We are so excited to be a small part of what He is doing and we are so very thankful for YOU!
The CHOOSE Act (Alabama's School Choice Act)
By now you should have heard that Alabama lawmakers passed a new education savings account program, the CHOOSE Act, earlier this year. They have now launched a new website that provides the latest information about the program, including eligibility information.
The family application process for the 2025-2026 school year opened on January 2, 2025 and will close on April 7, 2025.
Families may visit the website now to inquire about their potential eligibility.
Funding for eligible students includes up to $7,000 per participating student enrolled in a participating school. CCS is an approved, participating school.
