Safety Reminders for Kiss and Go Lane:
As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students, we would like to address an important matter regarding the use of the "Kiss and Go" lane.
It has come to our attention that some parents are parking in the "Kiss and Go" lane during drop-off and pick-up times. While we understand the convenience this may offer, it poses significant safety risks for our students. The "Kiss and Go" lane is designed for quick drop-offs and pick-ups only, allowing traffic to flow smoothly and ensuring that students can enter and exit vehicles safely.
Parking in this lane can lead to congestion and can cause drivers to make unsafe choices. To maintain a safe environment for all, we kindly ask that you refrain from parking in the "Kiss and Go" lane. Instead, please use the designated parking areas if you need to leave your vehicle.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter. By working together, we can ensure that our school remains a safe place for all students.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
Kiss and Go Reminders
- Be alert: Watch for pedestrians and other vehicles as you approach and leave the area.
- Children first: Always help children exit the vehicle on the curbside for safety.
- Be patient: Our special education buses can sometimes cause a delay. Please be patient while they load/unload students from these buses.
- Move efficiently: Pull up as far as you can and keep traffic flowing to ensure a smooth and safe experience for everyone.
- No parking: This lane is for quick drop-off/pick-up only—Please park in a designated spot if you are walking away from your vehicle.
Thank you for helping keep our school community safe!
Cereal Drive
Have you brought in your cereal boxes yet? Our students are excited to help make a difference by donating to Care and Share in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Let's work together to give back to our community! Your student can bring cereal boxes to class or they can be dropped off in the office.

Attendance Goal Reached!
We met our current goal to spell out COOKIE by reaching 95% attendance for 6 days in a row. Mrs. Green, our Elementary Specialist, baked and delivered hot fresh cookies to all students.
PTA Reflections ceremony
Congratulations to our King artists who placed at the El Paso County level for the PTA Reflections Contest! These talented students created amazing artwork and were awarded medals at the Reflections ceremony. We are so proud of all of their hard work and creativity!
All of these art pieces will now move on to be judged at the Colorado PTA level! Wishing our artists the best of luck! Next years theme will be about belonging. You can start talking to your student today about how they can demonstrate this theme through art, photography, writing, music, or dance!
Mrs. Olson's 5th Grade Reward Day
Mrs. Olson's 5th grade class earned a class party! They filled a jar of marbles by having whole-group positive behavior! Great Job 5th grade!
Thank to our Volunteers!
A big Thank you to Mrs. Romero for dedicating her time to help in 5th grade.
We love our King Volunteers!
School Cereal Drive (January 21st - January 30th)
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, King Elementary will be collecting unopened boxes of cereal to donate to Care & Share. On Friday January 31st, classes will arrange the boxes in a domino pattern and watch them fall. Our goal is to gather enough cereal boxes to completely “wrap” the school in support of this great cause.
Doherty High School Boys Bball Elementary Night 1/31
Please join the Doherty boys basketball team for the Elementary School Engagement Night on January 31, 2025. Elementary School students will get in free and will also be recognized at halftime during the Varsity game.
Help us reach our next Attendance Goal
Our next goal is to spell the word DANCE by having 95% or higher attendance for five days. When we reach our new goal students will get to enjoy a dance party. Our goal is 95% because we understand that there will be absences for illness and emergencies. We are hoping that outside of illnesses and emergencies all students will be attendance.

School Reminders
Health Room Clothing Reminders
Please return clothes that come home
Reminder: If your student comes home with an extra set of clothing. we ask that you please launder all items (except shoes) and return them to the office as soon as possible. We would like to keep our supply of donated items available for any student who may need them. This could include shirt, pants, underwear, socks and shoes.
Health Room Needs
Our Health room could use some clothing donations. Specifically, we could really use some girls and boys K-2 pants (Size 5-7).
Buddy Bench in memory of Tristan Rael
A buddy bench is a special place where students can sit if they’re feeling lonely or need a friend. It promotes kindness, inclusion, and friendship among students. Mr. Abbott, husband of Mrs. Abbott, is building a special buddy bench for the King playground and we are dedicating this special bench to Tristan Rael, a student that tragically passed away last year. We want to give our families and community members who are interested an opportunity to help purchase materials for our buddy bench. There is no obligation to donate but if you are interested in donating there is a link below. If we collect more than we need to purchase materials we will use those additional funds to buy additional playground equipment for our students.
How You Can Help:
- Donate: Any amount helps! Every contribution brings us closer to our goal.
- Spread the Word: Share this message with friends and family.
