Playground Renovation Update
Washington is getting a new playground this summer! We are in the early stages of planning and designing a playground to replace the current blue park near door 12a. As part of this process, we will engage our students, teachers and parents to get their input on a design that will best meet the needs of the Washington community. We are excited to hear from students about what they want in a playground, and they will have the chance to vote on design options in the coming weeks. We look to present a design to parents at the February PTO meeting so stay tuned for more details.
Valentine's Day at Washington
Valentine's Day 2025 falls on a non-attendance day for students. After discussions and feedback from staff, we have decided to move our second celebration day to the end of the school year. As a result, we will not celebrate Valentine's Day with classroom parties; however, some classroom teachers may provide time for students to distribute Valentines cards in class. Classroom teachers who plan to do this will provide more information to families in the coming weeks.
Registration Opens January 21st!
Registration opens next week! On Tuesday, January 21, you can enroll your child for the 2025-2026 school year. All of the information and links on our Registration Page will be activated on Tuesday.
The registration deadline will be noon on Friday, March 14, and if you register your child and pay the fees by then, you will receive the early bird discount. You must fill out and submit registration forms by Monday, March 10, at 3:00 pm to take advantage of the fee discount. This allows our staff time to verify documents and send out invoices so you can pay them by noon on Friday, March 14. Any families who do not register by this date will receive a records release, as we assume you’re going to another district.
For the 17th consecutive year, academic registration fees will remain unchanged for families who register and pay by the deadline. However, the early bird discount does not apply to participation, bus, or tuition fees. Our website has the fee list and explanations for any fee increases, such as for Instrumental Music and Chromebook maintenance.
Read-A-Thon Returns to Washington!
The PTO is excited to announce the return of Read-A-Thon, which will take place February 3rd through 24th. Last year's event created a lot of excitement about reading and was a successful fundraiser. Instructions for activating your reader's account will be sent out before Read-A-Thon begins. Readers can earn individual prizes and classrooms can engage in friendly competition!
We hope you will be reading with us this year!
