A Message from Dr. Moss
January at HBS
Dear Holland Brook Families,
Happy New Year! I hope this message finds you well-rested and recharged after the holiday season. As we step into 2025, I am filled with excitement and optimism for the opportunities that lie ahead for our school community.
Reflecting on 2024
Looking back at the last year, I am incredibly proud of all that our students, staff, and families have accomplished together. From our engaging classroom projects and school-wide events to the community service initiatives that highlighted the spirit of giving, 2024 was a year to remember. Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration—your involvement makes a world of difference.
New Year, New Goals
As we begin this new year, our focus remains on fostering a positive learning environment where every student can thrive. This January, we are emphasizing goal setting and the importance of perseverance. Teachers will be working with students to reflect on their progress and set personal and academic goals for the remainder of the school year. I encourage you to ask your child about their goals and discuss ways to support them at home.
Winter Weather Reminders
As winter weather sets in, please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Coats, hats, gloves, and sturdy footwear are essential for staying warm while enjoying fresh air. In the event of inclement weather, notifications regarding delays or closures will be sent via email and posted on our school website.
Gratitude and Partnership
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Holland Brook School a place where every child feels supported, challenged, and inspired. Together, we can make 2025 another year of growth and success for our students.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and fulfilling start to the new year. As always, my door is open please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, ideas, or concerns.
Warm regards,
Dr. Moss

What I Love About Holland Brook (Student Edition)
In this section, you will hear from various students throughout the year on their thoughts and experiences about HBS.
My name is Cayden Partap. Holland Brook School is a fun, safe place that I spend most of my time. The teachers at Holland Brook makes me feel cared for and help me understand my math among other subjects. The gym at holland brook has a large amount of equipment for me and my friends to play with during indoor recess. I enjoy playing four square at indoor recess with my friends. The playground is also a fun place to play as well. One of my favorite places is the library, I enjoy getting cozy on a chair and reading. Fun fact I also learnt the Dewey decimal system and how to read the shelves at the library. I also enjoyed playing the clarinet at Band, we learned hot cross buns and got to carol around the school with our instruments o the last day before winter break. Overall I love being a student at Holland Brook.
Hi. My name is Emmalyn Tran. I am a new student at Holland Brook School. A few reasons why I love HBS are:
◦ I felt welcomed with a party for new students in the beginning of the school year where I made new friends.
◦ My teachers, Mrs. Ganguzza and Mr. Roosen always know how to make learning more interesting and fun in class. They make me excited to go to school to learn something new everyday.
◦ I get to try new activities like joining the Samba club. After a lot of hard work, we got to perform at concert in the end. It was so fun!
I am so happy to be a Bobcat now at Holland Brook school!

The NED Show Inspires Holland Brook Students!
Last week, Holland Brook School had the pleasure of hosting the NED Show, and it was a huge hit with both students and staff! This engaging assembly brought energy, inspiration, and valuable life lessons to our school community.
The NED Show’s powerful message focused on three key principles:
- Never give up – encouraging resilience and perseverance.
- Encourage others – promoting kindness and support.
- Do your best – inspiring students to strive for excellence in all they do.
Through exciting storytelling, humor, and impressive yo-yo tricks, the presenter captivated our students while teaching them how to overcome challenges, build confidence, and support one another.
The Learning Continues
The impact of the NED Show didn’t stop with the assembly. Teachers have incorporated follow-up lessons and activities in their classrooms to reinforce the program’s themes. The NED Show’s resource library, filled with videos, worksheets, and interactive activities, has been a valuable tool in keeping the momentum going. Families are also encouraged to explore these resources at https://www.thenedshows.com/#resource-library.
The feedback from our students has been overwhelmingly positive. Many have shared how they are practicing the principles of “never give up,” “encourage others,” and “do your best” both at school and at home.
We are so proud of our students for embracing these important values, and we look forward to seeing the lasting impact of the NED Show in their daily lives.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this assembly possible!

Valentine’s Day Service Project: Spreading Kindness to Hunterdon Medical Center
We are excited to share that during this week’s enrichment time, our students will participate in a meaningful service project to spread kindness and cheer to our community. They will be creating Valentine’s Day cards for the staff and patients at Hunterdon Medical Center.
This project is a wonderful opportunity for our students to show appreciation to the hardworking medical staff and bring joy to patients who may need a little extra love this Valentine’s season.
Through this activity, we hope to foster a spirit of compassion and gratitude while helping our students understand the power of small gestures in making a big difference.
We encourage you to talk with your children about this project and the importance of giving back to the community. It’s a great conversation starter about kindness and empathy.
