St Peter's Primary School
Friday 21 July 2023
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Message from the Principal
WELCOME BACK - I hope that everyone had a restful break and used the holidays to refresh, recharge and get ready for another big term at St Peter’s. It was great getting around to all the classes on Monday morning to see the students’ smiling faces and hearing about the wonderful things they got up to over the break.
STAFFING UPDATE - We welcome five new staff members to St Peter’s for Term 3:
Alessia Fraser has taken over from Cassandra Visser in 1W. Rebecca Kelson has replaced Sophie Stajka and Carmel Cameron in 2M. Eliza Hardie joins us as our new Sports teacher. Tahilia Gismondi has taken over from Kayla Anzellino in Pre Kindy and Tony Hunter is our new Finance Officer, replacing Tracy Arnold. We also say farewell to Angela Seal who has taken a position at Emmaus Primary School. Angela spent over 20 years at St Peter’s in a variety of roles. Our loss is certainly Emmaus’ gain, and we wish her and all the staff who have moved on, all the very best. We are so thankful for their dedicated and hard work at St Peter’s.
TERM 3 - Term 3 is once again a busy term. Please continue to check the school calendar and your class SeeSaw for upcoming events.
FATHER JERONIMO - Father Jeronimo is on leave until November. This leave has been approved by the Archbishop. We wish Father J all the best on his break as he heads home to spend time with his family. For the interim, Father Israel has been appointed as the administrator of the Parish. Father Israel has been the Assistant Priest at Thornlie along with his role as the vocations minister at the Cathedral. We will put on a morning tea in the coming weeks to welcome Father Israel to the St Peter's community.
WELCOME BACK MASS - Our welcome back Mass has been postponed due to Father Israel attending a conference this week. We will notify the community once a new date has been arranged with Father.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION - Students in Year 4 will receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time on either Saturday 29th July at 3.30pm or Sunday 30th July at 11.30am. The parents and children attended a workshop this week led by Mario Borg from 24/7 Ministry to share information about the Sacrament of Eucharist. When a young person receives Holy Communion for the first time, it is a special occasion for them and their families. In the Eucharist we have Jesus, we have His sacrifice, we have His resurrection, and we have the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the children receiving their First Holy Communion, we pray that they will experience the promise of Christ in a unique way.
CROSS COUNTY - Congratulations to the students in Years 3-6 for competing in this week’s Cross Country Carnival. The top six boys and girls will head off to the Interschool Carnival next week, followed by the State Cross Country in Week 3. A huge thank you to Miss Hardie for co-ordinating the event and to all the staff who assisted on the day. Please see Sports news below for winners and photos.
THE GREAT BOOK SWAP - The Great Book Swap is happening next week. If you have children’s books at home that are in good condition that you no longer use, we invite you to donate them. Students will have the opportunity to purchase books in their library time next week for $1. All funds raised will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to provide books and learning resources to children living in remote communities across Australia.
THE 2023 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION ASSESSMENT - Students enrolled in Years 3, 5 and 9 at Catholic schools across Western Australia participate in a system-wide, online assessment in Religious Education. The administration of the assessment commences on Monday 24 July. The purpose of the assessment is to measure student learning of the content in the Religious Education Curriculum.
RUN CLUB - Run club continues to flourish week after week. It is such a great way to start the day and it’s always fantastic to see Grand Prom buzzing with community spirit. Can we please ask that you be respectful to the residents who live near Gran Prom by not parking on their verge or driveways. Thank you in advance for your support.
Have a wonderful weekend. See you in Week 2!
