Principal's Message
Dear West TV Families,
We so appreciated the opportunity to partner with you for conferences this week. Thank you to the PTC for providing meals to the West TV staff both Wednesday and Thursday during conferences - they were delicious and enjoyed by all!
It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away. There is no school the full week of Thanksgiving (Monday 11/25 through Friday 11/29). When we return from Thanksgiving, we will have picture retake day (Tuesday, December 3rd). Any student that didn't have their picture taken on picture day in October will have their picture taken on December 3rd. Also, if you aren't happy with how your child's picture turned out you can have your child's picture retaken on December 3rd - just be sure to send with your student that day all previous pictures ordered - your child will need to give them to the photographer.
Cold and flu season is upon us and this is also a time of year when families are traveling to see loved ones for the holidays. If your student will be absent from school please report the absence in one of the following ways:
- Option 1: Call the main office at 503-356-2510 and press 1 to leave a voicemail message (or ask to talk to the registrar secretary Andrea Martin).
- Option 2: Submit the absence in ParentVue before 7:45am (it will not accept it after 7:45am).
- Option 3: Submit the absence on the West TV school website.
- We prefer that you use one of the above options and not send a message in ParentSquare to report an absence, but if you need to send a message in ParentSquare please be sure to include both secretaries - Andrea Martin and Susan Boos.
- Please do not email your child's teacher to report an absence.
Going Home Plan Changes
Please keep your child's going home plans the same unless it is an urgent situation. It adds a layer of difficulty for staff to ensure student safety. Report all going home plan changes only to the office and ask for the registrar secretary Andrea Martin (please do not email your child’s teacher with a change in going home plans - the information will be hand delivered to your child's teacher by the office staff).
Option 1: Submit a request to change your student’s going home plans by going to the West TV school website.
Option 2: Call the school office and ask to speak to the registrar secretary Andrea Martin; however, if you do not speak to someone in the office directly, please don’t leave a message and call again later.
School Play
If you're looking for something fun to do for the whole family next week on Thursday evening November 21st - be sure to come see our West TV students performing in our School Play: Shrek the Musical. There is no cost to attend and the show begins at 7:00pm in the gym! Please do not bring food or any beverages other than water. All West TV students will get to see the play during an all-school assembly on the same day.
Thank you for sharing your children with us. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season!

The Little Library was started by Andy Owens, who attended West TV from 1992 -1996. He decorated the Little Free Library and every week would come to West TV to clean up and reload books for children of all ages. It was a free library and children could take books, borrow books, or leave books.
Andy Owens passed away in 2017.
All families are welcome to use the Little Free Library - donate a book, take a book or both!
At West TV we aspire to develop empowered lifelong learners who make a positive difference in the global community.
