Importance of Attendance
Missing a day of school here and there may not seem like a big deal, but absences add up quickly and can significantly impact your child's learning and experience at school.
Did You Know?
- Missing 2 days a month adds up to 20 days a year—that’s 30 hours of missed instruction in math, language arts, science, and social studies.
- Missing 4 days a month adds up to 40 days a year—that’s 60 hours of lost learning time!
Why Regular Attendance is Important for Your Child:
- Staying Connected with Friends: School is more than academics—it’s a place for friendships, group projects, and building social bonds. Regular attendance keeps your child connected with peers and part of the class community.
- Building Life-Long Habits: Attending school regularly teaches responsibility and punctuality, skills that will serve your child in high school, college, and future jobs. Employers value consistency and reliability, habits that start now.
- Reducing Stress: Missing school can leave students overwhelmed as they try to catch up on assignments and tests. Being present helps your child stay organized and reduces stress.
Let’s work together to ensure your child attends school regularly and gets the most out of their educational experience. Every day counts!
The Why Behind the Scholastic Survey
Butte Falls Charter School put out a Scholastic Survey during Fall Student Conferences. If you completed this survey already - Thank you!
If you have not competed this - we invite you to take a few minutes to complete the Scholastic Survey, which helps us assess and understand the level of family engagement between Butte Falls Charter School and our families. Your input is invaluable to our continued efforts to strengthen our community and support the growth of our students.
Why is this survey important?
Building Trust: Your feedback helps us better understand how we can work together as partners in your child’s education. By sharing your thoughts, we can identify areas where we can improve our communication and collaboration to create a supportive and transparent environment.
Moving the School Forward: The information you provide will help guide decisions that benefit our school community. Whether it’s improving programs, enhancing resources, or creating more opportunities for involvement, your voice plays a key role in shaping the direction of our school.
Why is family engagement so important for student success?
When families are engaged in their children’s education, students are more likely to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Strong family involvement fosters a sense of security, accountability, and motivation in students. It also creates a collaborative support system that encourages them to thrive in their learning environment.
We appreciate your time and commitment to making Butte Falls Charter School a place where students and families can grow together. Your feedback truly matters!
Thank you for your continued support.

SMART READING INFORMATION!
Butte Falls Elementary is participating with the SMART Reading Program (Start Making a Reader Today). The program is recruiting adult volunteers to read books to children in the kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms. Volunteers will spend 20 minutes reading to an individual kindergarten student, and 30 minutes with an individual 1st grade student. Every month the program lets a child choose a book to take home and keep. The goal of SMART is to improve reading skills and to develop positive relationships with the volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, or know someone that may like to become one, please contact Melinda Collier at 541-951-0389 to discuss the program, how to fill out the paperwork for a background check, and answer any other questions you may have.
