SPARTAN SHIELD

iREADY TESTING BEGINS
iReady ELA and Math testing will be taking place over the next two weeks.
On Monday, January 13, 2025, students will begin the iReady diagnostic assessment. ELA iReady testing will be on January 13, 14, 15, and 17, while Math iReady testing will take place on January 21, 22, and 24.
In order for students to carefully complete the iReady diagnostic, we have created a testing block during the school day. All testing will take place during a special testing block in the morning. Most students will return to their 1st Period for the testing block (with the exception of some students who have PE). Please see the bell schedule below and avoid scheduling appointments or picking students up from school during the testing block. Notice also that the school day still ends at 2:38 P.M.
The iReady diagnostic is a very useful tool for teachers and students. First, the diagnostic provides critical information to teachers about what skills students have learned or have yet to learn this school year. Teachers then determine what skills need to be addressed in the second part of this year to ensure that students are best prepared for next year. iReady also takes students' current skill levels and then provides targeted lessons to students, so if students take the diagnostic seriously, they will have a bank of lessons available to them in iReady to help them progress further.
Here are some ways that you can help your student do their best on this assessment:
1. talk to them about giving their best effort
2. encourage them to get a good night's sleep before the test (especially limiting electronic use before bed)
3. help them get to school in time to eat breakfast (the MP Room opens at 7:30 A.M. each day for breakfast)
4. minimizing absences and early releases/late drop-offs on these testing days
Thank you for supporting your student and our teachers during iReady testing!

PTO IS BACK!
JOIN US THIS TUESDAY!
Please Join Us For Our First Meeting On Tuesday, January 14!
We are so thrilled that Arcade's PTO is back! We appreciate our community coming together to make this happen! Please read this message from Lisa Pegos, a parent at Arcade:
Hello Arcade Parents!
My name is Lisa Pegos, and my son Roman is a 7th grader here at Arcade. I’m excited to announce that we’re relaunching the Arcade PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) in January 2025, and we would love for you to be a part of it!
Our goal is to bring parents and teachers together to support and enhance the wonderful events and activities that make our school so special. Whether you’re looking to get involved in planning, volunteering, or just helping to make a difference, your time and ideas are welcome!
We’ll be holding monthly meetings to discuss upcoming events, brainstorm new ideas, and find the best ways to support our school community. If you’re interested in learning more or have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at arcadepto@post.com.
Our first meeting is on Tuesday, January 14 at 7:00 P.M., and we’d love for you to join us. Please come to the main office and we will direct you to the room. It’s a great opportunity to connect with other parents, share your ideas, and help make this year a fantastic one for our kids.
I hope to see you there and look forward to working together to make a positive impact on our school and our children!

WE NEED MORE CHAPERONES!
We Need Chaperones for the 6th Grade Field trip!

We need 15 additional parent chaperones by January 15th or we may need to cancel the trip!
Permission slips are due January 15th—no exceptions! The number of students determines the number of chaperones, so if we don’t get enough chaperones, we may still be able to go based on the true number of students attending the field trip.
Students who want to experience the Planetarium may need to sign up in advance of the field trip. Stay tuned for details!
