Note from the Principal
Spencer Families,
Happy Friday and Homecoming! I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the parade and the game. We had a fun spirit week at Spencer and I always love a good pajama day! I hope you all have a restful and beautiful weekend together. It is always nice to have this fall weather. Reminder, we do not have school Monday as our staff is doing professional learning. We look forward to seeing our Roadrunners on Tuesday.
Love,
Mrs. Boyd
P.S. I know the parking lot can be frustrating at times, please refrain from honking at other cars unless there is someone who may hit you. It scares our students and staff and actually slows down the flow because everyone stops what they are doing to look or try to help. We want to model kindness and patience for our students. They are always learning how to behave by watching us.

Music Notes
2nd Grade Music Night
You are invited to join us for 2nd Grade Family Music Night! Family Music Nights are not formal concerts where students sing on risers and families watch/record from seats in the audience. Family Music Nights are fun events when family members get to join their Spencer students in music class style singing, dancing, playing and learning. There will be limited seating for those who need it. Otherwise, families should come prepared to move and sing and join in the fun! Date and times for 2nd Grade Family Music Nights are listed below. If your family has a time conflict, you are invited to attend the other time slot offered for their grade level.
2nd Grade Music Night on October 29th
5:30 PM - Mrs. Cowgill’s class and Mrs. Garza’s class
6:15 PM - Mrs. Gunn’s class and Ms. Haden’s class
Spencer Singers
Spencer Singers is an extra-curricular group for 3rd and 4th grade Spencer students who love to sing, dance and perform. We will rehearse each Friday from 8:20-8:50 a.m. starting October 25th.
Applications are due by 10/18/24, but spaces are limited to the first 50 students so the sooner applications can be submitted the better. Mrs. Muszynski will contact all members by 10/23 along with any students on a waiting list.

Counselor's Corner
Hello from your Spencer Elementary School Counselor, Mrs McKiddy! I have very much enjoyed our start to a great school year. I spent the month of September delivering lessons centered around making connections and creating strong and supportive cultures within their classrooms. For the month of October we are hopping on board with National Anti-Bullying Awareness Month. We will learn what bullying means, identify the roles within a bullying situation, and encourage our students to become Upstanders. Along with this encouragement, I will work with students to equip them with the tools and strategies of how to stand up for themselves and others.
As the year progresses, I am continuing to connect with classroom teachers to ensure I am supporting all student needs within our building. If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my Parent Referral Form/Permission Slip and we can work together to determine if supports are needed here at school.
We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have, and I will do my best to support your student.
Warmly,
Mrs. McKiddy

BAS Mental Health & Wellness
As a district, it is our mission to provide a rigorous, meaningful, and well-rounded education that will inspire each student to achieve their personal best. BAS believes that each student and staff member can reach their full potential when challenged to do their best, with an open mind, and with an unwavering commitment to personal growth.
We continue to increase our efforts to support each person's mental health and wellness with resources, time, and experiences. This information and much more can be found on the BAS Wellness & Mental Health website or download the app by typing in Brighton Area Schools on iTunes or Google Play.
Just In Case Clothes
Parents - Please make sure you pack a change of clothes (that are weather appropriate) in your child's backpack EVERY DAY. This is for ALL students, grades JK-4th, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or loose a tooth, or spill food/milk on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have a bathroom accident. If your student keeps a change of clothing in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we need you to bring up a change of clothes. Thank you for your cooperation.
