A message from the principal
Thank you for taking the time to meet with us during conferences. Our staff truly enjoyed connecting with you to discuss your child's progress at school. We appreciate your ongoing partnership and support in your child’s education.
A HUGE thank you to those who helped provide meals for our teachers on conference days. Your generosity is a wonderful gift to our school team, and it makes a significant difference on such busy days. We look forward to continuing our collaboration to support our students’ success!
As you likely know, it is election season, and here at CBPA, we thought we’d have an important election of our own! Our beloved husky, who got a little upgrade last year, has become a cherished presence at many of our events, including Specialty Night, Kindergarten Registration, and more. With a cute face, fantastic dance moves, and a BIG personality, our husky brings joy to everyone!
However, there’s one thing our husky is missing—a name! We want to invite you to participate in the naming process. Please see below for details!
Fall means fundraiser time! Our PTO sponsored fundraiser kicked off this week. The generous donations of our school community truly benefit our students in many ways throughout the entire school year, and we appreciate your contributions. You will find more information about the CBPA fundraiser below.
Exciting news from CBPA: Help us name our husky!
Here’s how it will work:
Submission Phase: From 10/14 to 10/25 we invite everyone to submit their name suggestions for our husky. Please submit your name ideas to your child's classroom teacher.
Voting Phase: After the submission period closes, each classroom will vote on one name idea to submit for final consideration. We will compile all the names and hold a voting event on Monday, November 4th. Everyone will have the chance to head to the 'polls' to vote for their favorite name!
Announcement: The winning name will be announced at school via livestream video on Friday, November 8th.
Let’s come together to give our husky the perfect name that reflects its vibrant spirit! We can’t wait to see what creative ideas you all come up with!
Thank you for your participation!
Specialty spotlight
This week 5th Graders worked with our Master Gardeners to harvest and clean out our many gardens. 11 raised beds, 2 ground beds and all 5 large planters in the front of the building were cleaned out in advance of the coming fall and winter. The produce harvested will go into additional salsa (courtesy of last year's 4th Graders) and a large batch of Stone Soup (courtesy of last year's 3rd Graders).
Recently Kindergarten, 3rd Grade and 4th Grade have had lessons with our Naturalists from Mississippi Gateway. These experiences consisted of an animal puppet show, and lessons on geology and landforms.

CBPA Families,
I’d like to clarify a few questions we’ve had about the Fall Fundraiser, and apologize for any miscommunications.
No Fun Run This Year
Instead of a traditional fun run, this year's Fall Fundraiser is focused on building community within our classrooms. There was discussion of a world-record attempt, unfortunately, Guinness didn’t approve our requests (and took 16 weeks to do so!). We're still working on finding a new record-breaking challenge.
Exciting Prizes
Classroom Treasures: Magna tiles, board games, recess equipment, and more to delight the whole class, all year!
Classroom Parties: Glow parties, Science experiments, and other fun themes to bring a fabulous experience reward.
School-Wide Mural: When we reach our goal of $40,000, we'll commission a custom mural by local artist Emiko Rainbow. The top-earning classrooms will get to choose something special to include in the mural.
Where Does the Money Go?
Funds raised during the Fall Fundraiser support PTO initiatives throughout the year:
Classroom and Teacher Requests: Teacher stipends, mini-grants, appreciation, specialty program resources, and additional requests not covered by district funds.
Community Events: Bingo night, Movie Night, Music Trivia Night, Track and Field Day, Family Specialty Night, and more!
100% of Donations Go to CBPA
We're using Zeffy this year, a fundraising platform with no fees, so every dollar donated goes directly to supporting our school. This hasn’t been the case in the past, as other platforms charge up to 30% in fees.
Support Our School
The Fall Fundraiser is our primary source of revenue. Your donation will help support amazing community programs throughout the year, provide needed resources to our students and staff, and earn your student’s classroom incredible prizes. Visit the CBPA PTO 2024 Fall Fundraiser and scroll down to find your classroom page. Donate and share that link to support your student’s classroom!
Bonus: Every classroom that receives a donation this weekend will be entered in a drawing. Six classrooms will be randomly chosen for a special prize for their entire class on Monday!
Thank you for your continued support of CBPA PTO.

Volunteer news
Hello CBPA families!
The start of October has brought lots of activities and events into the building! Thank you to those volunteers who helped with the t-shirt sorting. A thank you as well to our hearing and vision volunteers. Thanks to our book fair volunteers for assisting at our fall book fair. The book fair was very successful and we couldn't have done it without the help of our awesome volunteers. A big thank you to those who helped (with donations of money, food or time) with the staff lunches this week on conference days. The food was amazing and very much appreciated by our staff!
Please see below for what help is currently needed:
October Lunchroom: We will be continuing to have volunteers assist us in the lunchroom during the month of October. Volunteers will help with getting the students through the serving line, assisting them while they are eating, helping them during lunch dismissal and wiping down tables. The time is 11 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. However, if you are not able to commit to the entire time - that is ok - we will take whatever time you are willing to offer. Just note in your signup what time you will be volunteering! Please click on the links below to see what days help is needed:
Choir Volunteers: Our CBPA will be starting on 10/22! Volunteers are needed to help Ms. Dille, our music/choir teacher with rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5. You don't have to sing or play a musical instrument to help out! For more details on the tasks involved and to sign up, please click on the link below:
CBPA Choir Help (October-December 2024)
Watch for more information to be shared soon regarding our Ninja Math Day for our 4th and 5th grade students and fall parties. Both events will take place on Thursday, October 31st and volunteers will be needed!
