The Weekly Update #4
August 27th, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Williams Families,
This week is full of excitement! Tuesday night is our Title1 /Curriculum Night from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Each grade level will do a presentation in their pod at 5:30 p.m. They will repeat the presentation again at 6:00 p.m. for those of you who have children in more than one grade. We will have the presentation available in English and Spanish.
Everyone loves when the Book Fair is here! The Book Fair will be in the media center Monday through Friday during the school day. Students may shop during certain times of day based on their teachers' schedules so that they are not missing new instruction. If parents would like to shop with their child, please ask your teacher when is the most convenient time so that your child is not missing instruction. The Book Fair will be open on Tuesday night during Curriculum Night from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Planning for the PTA's Truck-or-Treat is underway. The date is Friday, October 25th from 6-8 p.m. We need donations of candy to be given as prizes for games, Little Debbie snacks for the Cake Walk and streamers for decorations.
If you would like to donate fall decor for the front of our school, such as mums, pumpkins or bales of hay, those decorations would be greatly appreciated. Please contact anyone in our front office staff if you would like to help spruce up our front entrance.
Thank you for making your child's education a top priority and minimizing tardies and checking out early.#EveryMinuteMatters

Would you like to represent our school on a Parent & Family Engagement Committee?
We have been asked to get 1-3 parents to represent Williams Elementary on a New Hanover County Schools committee and we would love to have YOU! This council will provide important input on Parent & Family Engagement policies and outreach, identifying areas of need in the district, and how we should use our federal funding to support those needs. The committee will meet 1 time per month from 9:00-10:30 at the Board of Education Center. The first meeting will be held on September 27th. We still have 192 students whose B.O.Y. paperwork has not been completed. This has to be updated each year to confirm that the information that we have for your student is correct. Phone Numbers, emergency contacts can all be updated here. FERPA, Technology permissions, and Military connections must be updated each year. After you update your child in scribbles, the next step is to begin the online BOY paperwork. to begin click here. If you don't receive a confirmation number, you did not complete the paperwork.
