Attendance and Dismissals
While we realize life happens, getting your child to school each day on time is extremely important for their academic and social emotional well being. Students who arrive after 8:35am are considered tardy and will need to sign in in the Main Office.
Early dismissals should be the exception; a pattern of early dismissal interferes with student learning, teacher instruction, and important end of day routines for students.
If you plan to dismiss your child, a parent/guardian must notify the office and your child's team teachers with either a note or email. Students are not allowed to call home to arrange for a dismissal.
Thank you for your support and cooperation!
Technology and Cell Phone Use
Student iPads are a school owned device and should be used for learning purposes, not for personal use or gaming.
Student cell phones or other personal electronic devices (smart watches) are not allowed to be used during the school day. These are to be placed in a student locker or backpack when entering the building.
Students can use the Main Office phone if they need to call home or get in touch with a parent/guardian.
Thank you for your help reminding your child about these expectations.

From the Nurses' Office
A reminder that ALL medication orders must be renewed each school year.
*Please note there is an update to medication order requirements. Updated medication order forms can be found and printed here. These medication orders must be signed by a physician.
In addition, an authorization form to administer medication must be signed by a parent/guardian. The nurses will require both forms to be completed in full prior to administering any medications.
The authorization to administer form can be found here.
Medication orders and medications should be brought in on the first day of school by an adult. Orders can also be faxed directly to the nurse fax line at 508-841-8677.
Students cannot transport/carry medications to school, except for Epipens and rescue inhalers that may be carried in their backpack as appropriate. Nurses must be notified of any self-carry medications.
Self carry medications require: a medication order, an authorization to administer, and a consent to self administer form, that is signed by the parent/guardian, the student and the nurse.
Please review and find the consent to self administer details here.
Allergy action plan forms are required for Epi-pen use and can be found here.

Summer Reading Requirements
A reminder that the school year will begin with activities and discussions related to summer reading books.
All students are asked to read three books and complete the grade-level appropriate graphic organizer based on one of the books they read. Graphic organizers can be found on the district’s 2023 Summer Resources document.
Students may select books from the entire Sherwood Middle School Summer Reading List, or from the list of recommended authors at the bottom of the list. Shrewsbury Public Library has many of these titles available, including in ebook and audiobook format.
If your child is having difficulty finding an appropriate selection, please contact Lisa Daly (ldaly@shrewsbury.k12.ma.us) and further accommodations may be discussed.
Extended Day Program
