EVERYONE LEARNING, EVERYONE LEADING
Dear Longacre Families,
Last week, we welcomed a Playworks coach to our school for a "Recess Reboot," a fun and energizing program designed to improve the quality of recess and help children engage in positive, healthy play. Playworks is a nationwide nonprofit that focuses on using the power of play to promote social, emotional, and physical development in elementary-aged children.
During the "Recess Reboot," our students participated in structured, inclusive games that encourage teamwork, communication, and positive conflict resolution. Playworks coaches also worked with our Noon-Supervisors and staff to introduce strategies for creating a more organized and fun recess environment. Our Community Builders were trained as "Junior Coaches" and will work with our younger students during recesses to engage them in games.
The benefits of play are far-reaching. Play helps children build essential skills like cooperation, empathy, and problem-solving, while also supporting physical activity, reducing bullying, and enhancing emotional well-being. By creating an inclusive and well-organized recess, Playworks helps our students form stronger connections with their peers and enjoy a more positive school experience overall.
As we approach our last week of 2024 together, we wish you and your family a restful, healthy and happy winter break! As always, feel free to contact me or the main office at 248-489-3733 if you have any questions.
With Longacre Pride,
Rhonda Henry, Principal

Culture of Equity & Innovation Community Survey
Dear Community Members,
Your opinion matters! We invite you to participate in an important survey aimed at assessing our school district's culture regarding equity and innovation:
-Equity: Each student receives what they need to develop to their full academic and social potential.
-Innovation: The process of introducing new methods, approaches, or technologies into the learning environment to significantly improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Your insights will help us identify strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring that our educational environment meets the needs of all students.
Objective: To assess the organization's culture regarding equity and innovation and identify areas for improvement.
Your feedback is crucial in shaping a more equitable and innovative educational experience for all students. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will close on January 17, 2025. Your responses will be kept confidential and will be used solely for the purpose of improving our district’s practices.
Thank you for your participation and for helping us create a better learning environment for our students!
