Windermere Weekly Update
April 1 - April 5
*****April 8th - IMPORTANT ECLIPSE INFORMATION*****
On April 8, Pflugerville will be in the path of totality for a solar eclipse. This is an exciting and special event that our students have the opportunity to experience.
Keeping students safe is our number one priority. Students will receive instruction on eye safety, including how to properly wear provided eclipse glasses (we have secured glasses for every child on campus), and instruction to not look directly at the Sun before and after totality. During totality, which lasts about 2 minutes, it is safe for students to look at the Sun's corona without protective eyewear. Our campus has chosen to allow students to view the Sun during totality without glasses.
Our teachers will review expectations and procedures with students so that everyone is prepared to view the eclipse safely. Totality can be experienced without looking at the Sun directly. Students will feel the temperature drop, potentially hear nighttime bugs chirping, and see how dark it becomes.
ALL students (the entire campus) will be going outside for the eclipse. If you DO NOT want your child to participate, please fill out this form. Also, while we would love to have parents attend the eclipse with us, we can not accommodate parent visitors during that time. If you would like to view the eclipse with your child, you will need to come and check your child out of school ahead of time. Our office will be closed during the eclipse so that our office staff can take part as well, so please plan ahead of time!
As always, please reach out to me with any questions or concerns at jennifer.macallister@pfisd.net.
Career Day(s)
Thanks to Sarah Richards, our counselor, for coordinating a career day for all of our students. I saw happy community members and lots of smiles from our students! What amazing opportunities for our school to see all different types of careers! Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to present to students about their job field.
Windermere Student Art
Some of our students had their circle plate weaving art displayed at the Pflugerville ISD Central Administration Building. Thank you, Ms. Wedge, our fantastic art teacher, for helping all of our art students create such beautiful pieces of art!
Easter Fun
Many of our students had Easter egg shenanigans going on last week! Here's a few of our PK3 and PK4 friends from Ms. Hart, Ms. Garza and Ms. Shannon's rooms. Even the 5th graders joined in, but their eggs had math equations in them to solve!
Proper Shoes for P.E. - REMINDER
We've had several injuries during P.E. because of improper footwear in the gym. Please don't allow your child to wear Crocs, slides, Heelys, any shoes with heels (boots/dress shoes), etc. to school on P.E. days. After Spring Break if students are wearing improper shoes, they will not be allowed to participate in P.E. If necessary, throw a pair of old sneakers in their backpack and they can change into them before P.E. Also, if you need help getting shoes, please reach out to myself or Sarah Richards, our counselor. You can call the main office and ask for us at 512-594-4800 or email at jennifer.macallister@pfisd.net or sarah.richards@pfisd.net.
Lice Information
This also went out via email last Thursday:
We kindly request your assistance in addressing a concern that is currently affecting all grade levels. Our nurse, Sara Tinnon has seen a big rise in lice cases in all areas of the building, and your cooperation in the following steps would be greatly appreciated.
- Vacuum all rugs, couches, etc. that hair comes in contact with.
- Wipe down all hard surfaces with antibacterial wipes that hair comes in contact with to kill eggs.
- Treat with the OTC lice treatment and continue to comb through student hair every few days until there are no eggs or live lice. Possible for 2-3 weeks.
- No sharing hats, jackets, clothing while at school.
- Leave all blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals at home.
- Wash ALL bedding, clothing, stuffed animals in hot water.
Again, please leave all blankets, pillows and stuffed animals at home. PLEASE read the attached flyers that go home with students who are identified with lice and classrooms where lice is found.
Check the CDC website for all the latest lice treatment information OR call your pediatrician/ doctor for further information.
Cure Lice Clinic will do the treatment for a 'reasonable cost' 512-203-9811.

Pfamily Pfriendly Comedy Show Benefitting Pfood Pfairness - April 13th
NO CAP COMEDY SHOW with headliner, Comedian Keith Terry! Also featuring multi-talented high school students of PfISD! This is the biggest pfundraiser Pfood Pfairness in Pflugerville Schools has ever had, and we are humbled by Comedian Keith Terry's generous donation of his time and talent to the cause! The show will help us finish out this school year strong and get a jump start on raising funds for the 2024-25 school year. Our goal is to continue fighting food insecurity and inequity, providing hot entrées to students who would otherwise have to choose between hunger and humiliation, and preventing lunch debt that would eventually come out of the district's funds.
Lunch & Learn Opportunities for Parents/Guardians in April
