Principally Speaking
Dear Winthrop Families,
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with joy and gratitude. As we move into the holiday season, I want to take a moment to highlight some special events this week and express our heartfelt thanks for the incredible generosity within our community.
BMX Assembly: Mannie Noguiera’s Anti-Bullying Message
Today, we had the honor of hosting BMX performer Mannie Noguiera, who brought a powerful message about standing up to bullying and the importance of caring for one another. Mannie, an inspiring BMX athlete known for his high-energy stunts and positive messages, shared how we all have the power to make a difference by being kind and supportive. He encouraged our students to be "upstanders" rather than bystanders when they witness bullying, promoting respect and empathy in every interaction.
A highlight of Mannie’s show was his incredible stunt where he jumped over Mr. Keith Archung, our brave fifth-grade teacher, who laid down as part of the demonstration! This daring act of bravery from Mr. Archung was a memorable moment that truly captured the spirit of teamwork and courage.
Mannie’s message of positivity connects perfectly with the work of our No Place for Hate student group, which is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive school environment. Our students are learning daily how to care for one another, and Mannie’s visit reinforced the importance of spreading kindness both at school and beyond.
A special thank you to Melissa Sciola, our FRIES Special Programs Coordinator for organzing today's assembly!
Supporting Ipswich Caring
As we appoach the holiday season, I’d like to remind our community of the opportunity to support Ipswich Caring in lieu of teacher gifts. This local organization provides essential resources for families in need, and we are encouraging donations of non-perishable food, clothing, and other basic necessities. If you'd like to contribute, donations can be dropped off at the school office or directly at Ipswich Caring.
Thank you for considering this donation and helping us teach our students the value of giving back. This is a wonderful way to show our care for others as we enter the holiday season.
Thank You to the Villa Family
A special thank you to the Villa Family for hosting a wonderful Teacher Appreciation event this week. Your thoughtfulness and generosity made the event unforgettable for our staff. We are so grateful for your continued support and care for our teachers and school community.
A Season of Caring
At Winthrop, caring for one another is at the heart of everything we do. Whether through our No Place for Hate group, our acts of kindness toward others, or our support of Ipswich Caring, we are continuously working to build a stronger, more inclusive community. As we reflect on all we have to be thankful for, I hope we can all take the opportunity to show kindness and support to those around us.
Thank you again for your continued support, and I wish you all a joyful and peaceful start to the holiday season.
With Gratitude,
Amy

Ipswich Caring
Dear Winthrop Families,
During this holiday season, the Winthrop School community has a great deal to be thankful for. This time of year we try very consciously to help children focus on the giving and sharing aspects of the season and to develop a sense of how fortunate we all are to have school, families, and our health, when many in the world and our town are still in need.
We have a long-standing tradition at Winthrop School with Ipswich Caring.Ipswich Caring makes significant contributions to Ipswich families during the holiday season, as well as throughout the year with its many programs. We would greatly appreciate it if you would forego giving gifts to the staff at this time. Those of you who feel the need to give are encouraged to make a donation to Ipswich Caring. If you’d like to make a contribution, please fill out the form below and return it with your contribution to the Winthrop School office. The teacher(s) you are honoring will be given a copy. Your contribution can be sent in cash or as a check made out to Ipswich Caring, along with the form, and dropped off at the office.
Thank you for honoring our request.
Wishing you health and happiness over the holidays!
