A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
There is no school for students on Tuesday, November 5th. We are looking forward to seeing students back in the building on Wednesday.
Even though we have had a few days where it has been unseasonably warm, this is just a reminder that students need to come to school properly dressed for the weather. Please take the weather into consideration when you dress your child for the day. As the weather gets cooler, jackets and coats will be necessary for your child to bring to school. Please continue practicing zipping up jackets at home with younger students. Please remember to LABEL EVERYTHING!
Speaking of clothing, if your student is missing clothing items and you are visiting Rainbow for Parent Teacher Conferences, please be sure to check the Lost and Found in the cafeteria for missing items.
Picture Retake Day is November 12th – Bring your smiles! Picture retakes are for the new students or students who were absent on the original picture day, or for students who would like a retake.
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Stauffer

Rainbow Safeties Visit LaMancha
The fifth grade Safeties at Rainbow Elementary are not only leaders in school, but also in their community. On October 27th, Ms. Mathisen brought 15 of her outstanding Safeties to volunteer at LaMancha. This is a local non-profit animal rescue located on Doe Run Road in Coatesville. The students tour the beautiful grounds with two of their dedicated volunteers (Virginia Lucas and Kim Weldon) and learn about this amazing organization. It is the hope that they are able to spread the word to people looking to adopt a furry friend. In addition, the Safeties “socialize puppies.” It is a win-win situation. The Safeties get to play with puppies while the puppies get accustomed to being around kids, held, and played with. This will, in turn, help them get adopted. The Safeties at Rainbow volunteer at LaMancha a few times throughout the school year.
For more information on LaMancha, you can visit their website at https://www.lamanchaanimalrescue.org/.

Volunteer and Field Trip Chaperone Information
Dear Rainbow Families,
As the school year is underway, I would like to inform you of the Coatesville Area School District school board approved policy No.916: Volunteers. The purpose of this policy is to recognize that volunteers can make valuable contributions to the school district. All schools within the district encourage the use of volunteers subject to the requirements of Applicable Law and this policy.
There are two distinct definitions within the policy regarding volunteers and helpers.
· Volunteer: an adult applying for or performing an unpaid position as a volunteer who is responsible for the welfare of a child or children or having direct contact with children. A volunteer may supervise students without the presence of a teacher or certified paraprofessional. Volunteers may undertake activities such as: field trip chaperones, tutoring students, and assisting before, during or after school activities.
· Helper: an adult who provides help or assistance in an event or function, but who does not meet the definition of a volunteer whereas the helper is not responsible for the welfare, care, supervision, guidance or control of a child or children independently of a teacher or certified paraprofessional. Helpers may undertake activities such as: class part, cafeteria help, material preparation, assisting a teacher in the classroom.
Adults who meet the definition of a volunteer under Applicable Law or under this policy shall be required to complete a registration/disclosure form and provide the following:
a) Act 34 State Police History Report
This clearance is free of charge to volunteers and can be found online at https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
b) Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance Statement
This clearance is free of charge to volunteers and can be found online at https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home.
c) Act 114 FBI Background Check (not required if you have been a PA resident during the entirety of the previous 10 year period) Ø The cost of this clearance is $22.60 https://uenroll.identogo.com/workflows/1KG6XN

Helpers need only to have their photo identification scanned into our Navigate 360 Visitor Management upon entering the school building.
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Stauffer
