Morris Elementary School
Week of March 6th
Hello Parents and Guardians,
We hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the early signs of spring! It's been a bustling week here at Morris, filled with exciting activities and important updates.
- On Wednesday, our students delved into the world of good dental health. They learned valuable tips and tricks to keep their smiles sparkling bright. Remember, a healthy smile leads to a healthy life!
- Thursday brought a thrilling adventure as our students embarked on a quest to find 29 tigers for each grade level! It was an exhilarating experience, filled with teamwork and excitement, all in celebration of Leap Day.
- Friday was a day filled with literary joy as we celebrated Read Across America Day. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the guest readers who joined us in spreading the love of reading.
Exciting news! This week, we welcomed a new addition to our school - the Morris Book Vending Machine! Students who receive a ROAR certificate, recognizing their outstanding achievements for following the school wide expectations, will also receive a token for a book for this marvelous machine. Even students who have already received a certificate will get a token. We're thrilled to see the joy of reading continue to flourish through this innovative initiative.
Looking ahead, we're gearing up for a relocation drill scheduled for late April. This drill is an essential part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. We are in need of a small group of dedicated parents to assist us with practicing the reunification process. If you're interested in lending a helping hand, please email me at bkelley@lenoxps.org. Your participation is invaluable, and together, we'll ensure our preparedness for any situation.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to another month of learning, growth, and memorable experiences.

Third Grade Audubon Lesson
The third grade students are studying beaver adaptations and other animals that benefit from the ponds that beavers create, including the great blue heron, dragonflies, snapping turtles, and wood turtles. You will see them looking at a beaver tail, beaver pelt, beaver skull, wood chewed by a beaver, a replica of a beaver foot, a heron skull, snapping turtle shell, wood turtle shell, and two kinds of dragonflies.
