Principal's Message
The St Jude's School community wishes to extend our love and care for Yasmin, Justin, Wani, Geoffrey, Jackson, Dennis, and Jayden on the sudden passing of their husband and father, George Longun. George and his family have had a wonderful association with our school for many years and we are so sad to hear of his passing. Please keep George and his family in your prayers.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You with heavy hearts as we mourn the loss of a beloved father in our school community. We ask for Your comforting presence to surround the family and friends who are grieving. Grant them peace and strength during this difficult time.
Lord, we lift up these children who have lost their father. May they feel Your loving arms around them, providing solace and hope. Help us, as a community, to offer our support and compassion, showing them they are not alone.
We trust in Your promise that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. May Your love and grace be a source of comfort and healing for all who are affected by this loss.
In Your holy name, we pray.
Amen
All Saints Day and All Souls Day
Today we celebrated All Saints Day by joining the parish for Mass.
All Saints’ Day is a special day when we remember and celebrate all the saints in Heaven. Saints are people who loved God very much and lived their lives in a way that showed their love for Him and others. Some saints are famous, like Saint Francis of Assisi or Saint Teresa of Calcutta, but there are many saints whose names we don’t know. This day is for all of them!
They show us how to live good and holy lives. It’s also a day to remember that we are all called to be saints by loving God and helping others.
Tomorrow, we celebrate All Souls' Day. This is a day when we remember and pray for all the people who have died. We celebrate to show our love and care for those who have passed away. By praying for them, we help them on their journey to Heaven. It’s also a time to remember our loved ones and feel connected to them in a special way.
St Jude's Feast Day
We had an incredible day filled with fun activities to celebrate St. Jude’s Feast Day on Monday. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our Mission Markets—we raised an impressive $864! In the afternoon, our talented students showcased their skills in the St. Jude’s Got Talent Show, making the day even more special.
A special thanks to our FOSJ team for running one of the Mission Market stalls and to all the parents who came along and supported us in various ways. Your participation and enthusiasm made the day truly memorable.
When Is It Ok To Miss School?
It is important for children to attend school all day, every day. The law in Australia says that children must attend every day that the school is open.
Missing school means missing learning, which can make it harder to catch up.
By regularly going to school, your child and your family gets to know the teacher, other children and other families.
Attending regularly helps your child develop a sense of belonging and connection to school. This connection also builds friendships that can last into high school and beyond.
Did you know that the attendance habits that are set by children in their early years of schooling continue throughout their school life and into their further study and/or careers?
Would you believe that if your child misses just one day of school a fortnight, they will miss the equivalent of 4 weeks of learning? That is a lot of time missed in just one year!
So when is it ok for your child to miss school?
An. ok reason is one that prevents your child from getting to school. this could be:
- when your child is sick or unwell
- attending cultural or religious observances
- an unavoidable natural event such as flood waters
- an unavoidable medical appointment
It's not ok to miss school if your child:
- is celebrating a birthday
- is staying home too keep you company
- is going on a family holiday (please book these during school holiday breaks)
- is visiting family and friends (please save this for weekends and school holiday breaks)
- has slept in or had a big weekend.
You can help by:
- Organising family holidays during school holiday breaks and not during the school term.
- Booking medical appointments after school when possible.
- Talking positively about school so your child is happy to go each day.
- Having a set time and routine for going to bed and getting enough sleep each night.
- Encouraging your child to have their school uniform and school bag ready the night before.
- Spending some time together reading for enjoyment and talking about the good things that happened in their day.
Please speak to your child's teacher if you need advice and support with your child's attendance. We are here to help
Happy Birthday to the following students who have recently celebrated their special day!
